Dear Don: Thank you for helping us spread the word about our new show by posting in our forum. I know you and the Kansas Meteorite Museum have been fans of Steve Arnold's work for many years! We appreciate your support.
Well you are more than welcome, I’ve always helped Arnold, helped him build his metal detector some 15 years ago and filled him and his daughter in on the Brenham strew field back in 2005, black sand. I’ve heard he had some luck afterwards but haven’t talked to him for quite some time. He may have been a bit miffed when I would not let him search our property (the Kimberly meteorite farm) for meteorites or let him sell my meteorite collection. However, a fan, of course, I’ve documented his writings and activities on the internet and in the newspapers for many years, it is quite a collection and he is still going strong.
I must say this is refreshing, nowadays you rarely get thanked for your contributions and sometimes when I try to help people out I just get called names! The mayor in Haviland requested some press coverage with one of our meteorite excavations, USA Today picked up the story and next thing I know a fellow by the name of Notkin, whom I’ve never met and never heard of before (at least until then) became quite upset. He really hurt my feelings when he implied I was lazy. As a former Alzheimer’s care giver I would never use that term when writing about a person in such a difficult situation (you can still view his writings on the internet or I can provide copies if needed).
At any rate, thank you for helping our museum effort in rural Kansas by allowing us to post on this site. Hopefully some of the viewers of the TV show will want to see the area first hand and also visit our museum, the Kansas Meteorite Museum & Nature Center. It is right across the street from where LMNO/Discovery Channel(?) was filming, maybe they managed to get our business signs in one of the shots!
Best of luck to Steve in his new television career. And, if I may ask, who are you? Your message only reads “meteoritemen”. Are you the fellow at LMNO that needed the information on Kansas meteorites? Hope the information I provided was useful.
Information about the Meteorite Men show can be found at their MySpace page:

METEORITE MEN is an exciting new television adventure/science show starring long time friends, expedition partners, and meteorite hunters Geoffrey Notkin of Aerolite Meteorites and Steve Arnold of Steve Arnold Meteorites
Sorry you missed the news about Steve Arnold's success in Brenham. He certainly did have some luck there. In 2005 he found the largest oriented pallasite ever found in the US, weighing a hefty 1,430-pounds. You can see a picture of it and the international press it received on Steve's website:[COLOR:PURPLE]WWW.STEVEARNOLDMETEORITES.COM[/color].
Not only was Meteorite Men filmed out there but Steve and Geoff filmed an episode of Cash & Treasures there, where the famous "Becky Stone" was found. It was named after the show's host, Becky Worley. They also filmed a segment for Wire Science there as well.
Also, you'll really enjoy Geoff Notkin's website at www.aerolite.org. His bio and expedition reports with pictures are there. There are quite a few pictures of them filming Meteorite Men on his site.
To those of you who don't know Geoff and Steve, you must watch the show! I've been following their exploits for years and it is never disappointing. I am a huge fan and am honored to call them friends.
