i've been looking all over the place to try and find the composers used in Wings of the Red Star - more specifically the music in the episode about the hind chopper
any help would be great, this has been tormenting me for awile now
I'm amazed to hear from someone about this subject. I sent an email to the Discovery Channel, back when one option was the Wings Channel, now the Military Channel asking for the very same answer. What was the piano background used with "Wings of the Red Star". I received a reply but no answer. In the mean time I had searched Tcherepnin, Scriabin, and even Glazounov but never found the exact piece presented in the background of the series. I well remember the haunting, lovely Russian selection but I've done little since I failed to get the answer. I did find some excellent CD's by each of the composers mentioned, however. Would love to share your knowledge should you succeed with this question.
This is an absolutely astounding and incredible post. I have searched for the composer of the "Wings of the Red Star" series for several years and was totally convinced it was a Russian composer the likes of: Tscherepnin, Balakilev, Scriabin, Glazunov, Liadov, and Dargomyzhsky and had even narrowed it down to Scriabin or Tscherepnin. Now you tell me it is an American, all the time. No matter, I collected many great CD's along the way. I will log onto your music teacher tonight. Many, many thanks.
yea..i cant find the recording either, but the note under the theater section explains "Jeffrey Chappell recorded the soundtrack of Russian piano music for the series "Wings of the Red Star", produced by the Discovery Channel."
I'll try to remember to ask him the next time I see him about a recording a get back to you
well, i got in contact with jeffrey, unfortunatly he doesn't remember who it is...he asked me for an audio clip, which i've been trying to find (can't) and waiting for any shows to come back on, but they're so rare i almost always miss them
if anyone has an audio clip they can send me, my email is majlittl@gmail.com, and i'll forward it to him. i was planning on recording it with my cell phone next to the tv lol, since i dont have a vcr or tivo
