I was so excited about this show only to be let down by watching a Spanish-Built HA-1112 portrayed as an original Bf 109 G6. There was also no mention that the HA-1112-M1L engine was similar to the 1,600hp Rolls Royce Merlin engine which powered the Spitfire and Mustang. That point alone would have been noteworthy if not ironic.

Another thing that bothered me were the aerial shots of what looked like to be a Radio Controlled (RC) Mustang (red wing tips) and Bf 109. You had the P-51 in flight and walk around, there was no need to show the RC Mustang... and why couldn't they have used some footage of Black 6 when it was flight?

This was by far the most disappointing series of all.

P.S. it's a "Bf 109" not "Me 109"

Sgt13 beat me to it. This was a really disappointing episode for several reasons. For starters, it duplicates the original 2 hour "Dogfights" program that showed Colonel Anderson's fight with the German ace (whoever he was) in more detail.

The Air Combat film editor screwed up by skipping the first pull-up that Bud Anderson aqnd the German made, so Col. Anderson's comments began with the second pull up.

Also you'd expect the owner of the Spanish 109 to explain the difference between the HA-1112 and a real 109G. I don't expect the stealth pilot to know beans about these things.

The CGI on this program just sucks. Most of us got spoiled watching Dogfights. AIr Combat even got the code letters wrong on the right side of "Old Crow."

Despite all the problems, its really good to see Col. Anderson on screen again. He's a really fine gentleman.

Thanks Biplane!

I had the opporunity to meet Bud Anderson and Chuck Yeager at the EAA fly-in several years ago. Bud was great and autographed a photo of him on the wing of old crow for my boys. He truly is one of my favorite aces next to Gunther Rall, Adloph Galland, Dick Bong and Don Gentile.
