In a recent episode of Deconstruction, they described how certain types of equipment for seeing in the dark work. But they said that an electron enters the optical lens where it is amplified and sent to the eyes. My question is? Since the optical lens was designed to captue light, shouldn't it have been a Photon that was captured by the lens, translated into an electron, amplified 25,000 times then translated back into Photons before exiting the eyepiece. Note, when I say translated, maybe substitution would be a better word, since the Photons and Electrons are never actually converted.
