Did anyone else see the 2nd Top Ten Fighter Aircraft show? I hope I saw this one on the Military Channel and not on Discovery or another.

This one was less messed up than the first one. First, there was no ratings for "Fear Factor" and the like, just a good description of each aircraft, listing its strengths & weaknesses, etc.

I could kick myself for not writing them down, but from memory I'll do the best I can.

10. F-117 Stealth Fighter. Now we all know that
this is not really a fighter at all, but a
bomber, and they acknowledge that on the
show.
9. Japanese "Zero."
8. AV8-B "Harrier." I think that previous posts
establish this isn't really a fighter either
but of all the aircraft anywhere, it's one
of two I'd probably give my left one to fly,
the other one being the A-10, which wasn't
on the list at all.

Also included were the British "Spitfire" and the P-51 "Mustang," both deserving IMHO. Also, the WWI aircraft Sopwith Camel and Fokker Tri-Plane were included.

The original "Top Ten" gave a tie to the #5 spot to the MiG-15 and the F-86. This show gave a comparable spot to the F-86 only, completely omitting the MiG-15.

Gone from the list in this show was the F-4, but one point I noted was that the F-14, F-15, and F-16 were also omitted. The F-18 made the list, but only in its "E" Super Hornet variant.

If anyone saw this show and remembers all the aircraft in their correct order, please post it so we can have some new discussion. Seems like a good site has become quiet.

Ahhh, and the best part....no Dr. Aryeh Nuschbacher (sp) ragging about how the Americans just HAD to put a round nose on the Harrier.

Also, next week, they advertised a new Top Ten Helicopters, which, from the promos, looks better than the first one.
