I just watched you show on the AH-64. I am a senior instructor pilot in the Army for the OH-58D(R). I feel you did a great job talking about the aircraft but a few of your points are not quite 100 percent true. It is an agile aircraft but the OH-58D(R) is more so. We have flown and worked with the Apache and flown them in knots. Also they are not the pride of the Cavalry by any means. I have been and still am in the Cavalry and the OH-58D(R) pilots in the Cav take great pride in being the pride of the Cav and not Attack as the AH-64 is. Other than that you may want to find out on how we have been using the pink team concept in Iraq with the two aircraft working together and kicking tail over there.
Hooah Aircavaviator! If the Apache is the pride of the Cav., why was it stripped of its role as attack aircraft in Iraq? And why is the Kiowa Warrior the aircraft of choice by all the ground commanders when they call for air support to come in down and dirty and bail them out of a jam. The recent segment of Combat Zone entitled Ambush at Lake Tharthar was one of the best examples of showing what the underated Kiowa can do. Always the red headed stepchild of Army Aviation, the OH-58D (R) was finally given a chance to show what it could do...and is still there doing it while the Apaches hold the ramp down.
