If the Yorktown carriers class (Yorktown, CV-5, Enterprise,CV-6 and Hornet, CV-8) are not included in the Top-10 Ships, then there is something terribly wrong with the rating matrix. They led the way during the early war years while fighting superior odds. At Midway the 3 Yorktown carriers sunk all 4 opposing carriers and 1 heavy cruiser for loss of ony the Yorktown which had still not been totally repaired from the previouos Coral Sea battle. The Enterprise and Hornet were key to our win at Guadalcanal and in the Solomons again fighting against supperior odds. While the Hornet was sunk, the Enterprise fought on until the end of the war, earning more battle honors than any other ship in history by and large margin. While their service lives may have been short, they were a pre-war design that achieved outstanding success. The later Essex class also deserves to be included but by the time they came into service the tide of the war had turned and they were never fighting at a dis-advantage. In my opinion, the Yorktown class and the Enterprise in particular should be in the top 10 and probably should be rated as #1.
It is also ridiculous to include any battle ship after December 7, 1941 and to have the Iowa class as # 1 is crazy since they never fought any worthy opponent and most of their lives were spent laid up in reserve.
