Their was in fact a man made salt mine and an oil drilling accident that caused a whirlpool to occur.
This has been documented and their is live footage.
Lake Peigneur: Date of incident, Nov.21,1980
Near New Iberia, Louisiana.
What was a freshwater lake is now a salt water lake.
Great story.
Though Mythbusters busted their being any whirlpools that can pull down or ever pulled down any boats. This whirlpool in fact, Did.

What size boat. They used a fishing boat and a contaner ship that we would find on the ocean. If it's in a lake, it probable be a little dingy or a canoe. Not something they would even think of. Also they probable cheeked that out as well, remember they have researchers as well on the team as well. They were also testing about natural-ocuring vortexes not one made by man. I know it is boring to watch the blueprints, but they are telling you what the myth is and the myth was about natural vortex.

Finaly, you are on the wrong board, THIS IS MILITARY CHANNEL, Mythbusters are on the Discovery Channel Boards
