Do LP ever find that some people will take advantage of them because of their size, such as cutting in front of them if they are standing in line waiting to be served somewhere ?

Once I was at a live Gallagher comedy show and when he was about to bash a watermelon with his hammer, the man next to me picked me up and used me as his watermelon sheild. Gallagher saw what he was doing and said "Now thats what I call using height to your advantage!!!"

Never really liked the guy anyway.

"I never really liked the person anyways"

Are you referring to Gallagher or the person

who picked you up ? I think that was very rude and disrespectful of the person who picked you up. He had no right to do that.

i was referring to Gallagher, but I'm not too fond of the man who picked me up either. Us little people should boycot everything having to do with Gallagher the LP hater.

oh what kind of crazy person would do that? Any normal, smart enough person would and should know that picking up a little person as if they were a small child is making little people feel like they are being belittled.
I mean, I know we just saw Jeremy pick up his mother in the new episode, but that was done out of love, but the guy using you as a shield, clearly wasn't. Some folks just don't use their minds or they just don't care.

there have been a few times when i have been taken advantage of because i'm a little person. and i know this is bad, but because i'm a little person, i can take advantage of taller people because they don't know how old i am. so it's even.

WHAT NERVE BOTH GALLAGHER AND THE INCONSIDERATE PERSON WHO PICKED YOU UP HAVE!!!

It really bothers me that the entertainment community uses LP's as the brunt of a joke! My small daughters' have a larger, younger brother who randomly picks them up and it infuriates them! Especially the younger one as she's afraid of heights.

I believe my daughters' were picked up against their will in school. On a playground, there's not much standing in the way of a rowdy prankster who chooses to show his/her strength by picking on an LP classmate.
Aaarrrgggghhhh!!!! It boils my blood!

Expecting consideration from Gallagher is impossible. He is crude and rude.

I think that LPBW has introduced many of us to the world of little people. We never had a chance before to understand. I appreciate the show just for that. At least that is how it was in the beginning. Now it has become a soap opera.

dt,
I wish we lived closer. You'd have a friend and protector with me... and the services of my dogs, as well.

Someone makes a snide remark... scary ol' tattood me unclicks the leash to the 160 pound dog who stands taller than 6 feet on his hind legs. (If you noticed on my myspace, Gatsby... the grey one witht he blaze on his face, has no ears. Some people think it's scary.)

My wife, Megan is 5 foot tall. She's constantly getting remarks and comments tossed her way... because she happens to look much younger than she is. In fact, that's how we met. We ended up working overtime at stores different than our own. She walked by and I grumped, "What are you, like twelve?" She promptly shot back, "You have big feet," and it's been great ever since.

I am, however, much more careful with what shoots out of my mouth...

Tails -

Imagining what you've described would certainly turn the tables on a snide remark maker – followed by the snide remarker taking it up a notch to a leash law violation and aggressive dog impounding!

Too busy to reply much yesterday, but I'd read your post. I did tell Amber and Kristy (<- note the similarity!) about it. It came across loud and clear that both were thrilled to think there's someone out there who'd think, and if at all possible, react the way you'd written. So much of our time in public, standing in a line say, is waiting out locked in stares.

My Kristy sounds a bit like you – “Don’t Tread On Me”. Minus the tattoos, although she wants a tiny, cute one (she and I watch Miami Ink 'cause we're amazed at the quality of work). Kristy was born with an attitude of 'Hey, don't get in my face or bother me'. She's never spoken those particular words, but she can call out "Move people" as she's wailing her arms around. This happens while she's riding in her O2 adaptable stroller and we're being cut off right and left due to our inability to move well in the crowd. I crack up at the expressions on the faces of people who are stunned by what they BELIEVE they heard coming from this tiny, two-year-old sized girl.

I equate her to Tinkerbell. She has a visor that reads "Miss Attitude" with a graphic of Tinkerbell sitting in a closed of position with legs and arms crossed, eyes closed, head turned to the side, and nose in the air. I have dozens of photos of Kristy doing that same thing. But - she is a lover girl. Her hugs and expression of her feelings are absolutely true and heartfelt. I get a kick out of her!!!

DT... I just happened to think of something... unleashed dogs must be incredibly scary for your daughters. Even smaller dogs at 25 pounds or less would be scary to your youngest daughter. Dogs can be unpredictable, even the dog people swear never attacks anyone.

Is your oldest daughter able to go out alone, or does she feel safe doing so? Is she able to drive?

coral - Unleashed dogs - we don't encounter many - can be quite frightening for them. Even leashed dogs whose owners say "won't bite" are intimidating, as you wrote. So many dog walkers try to encourage the girls to get closer. They don't. It would be like an average size person being face to face with a horse sized dog. I wouldn't do it.

As for driving, neither of my daughters' do at this time. The oldest, and likely more capable due to size, hasn't shown an interest in it. She did pass Driver's Ed several years ago in high school. Maybe she thinks about it, but doesn't push the matter.

The younger - and smaller - constantly talks about wanting to drive and own an SUV of all things! Not likely the DMV would allow a 22 lb. person dependent on O2 get a license, or if licensed, how would the insurance company respond? I've not looked into it. I know it breaks her heart knowing her younger brother already has his license.

I have thought about how OTHER drivers would react to seeing my girls behind the wheel. They look too young to drive. Their arm muscles may not be able to manipulate the steering wheel. To be honest, it's all new territory for me in regard to licenses. Actually, their entire lives have been new territory with every milestone made.

As for going out alone - naw, it doesn't happen. I looked into an assist dog for her when she was attending a local community college. I feared her petite size and child-like look would make her a perfect target for some kook pedophile or nutcase. Thankfully she's not asked to do anything on her own. She's used to having at least one other person around her.

I'm full of attitude. I get scared at enough when I go into public with my own family. I've grown quite nasty, unfortunately.

Things aren't good here, so I apologize for the short post. I think I'm slipping into an episode of depression. The bad part of being bipolar. (I like manic... but this other stuff... not so good...)
