I always feel bad when I set people straight as to my age.
For example at a fundraiser for my high school (I'm an alumni, graduated in '01) a nice lady asked me "So do you go to high school here?" My response was, "No, actually I graduated college about two years ago. But I *did* go to high school here...".
I always feel funny straightening people out like that. Kind of weird I guess.
Well Heather, I personally haven't had to straighten anyone out as far as school goes. Hoewver, I had to for my oldest son. Granted he is about my height already (5'1") he has grown slowly and has been the one of the shorter boys in his grades. One time a woman asked him if he was in 3rd grade (he was in 6th) and I felt so bad...he sheepishly said he was in 6th and she (loudly) said "Nooo you can't be, your too small for 6th grade!" Hmmm not everyone grew up with manners...
Don't feel bad. I'm 28 and constantly get mistaken for being much younger. Now if someone is rude, like silverdlfn's case, I would have loved to have set them straight. I bet she was FURIOUS!
I always say ( Well Bless your heart, I wish I was still that young but I am almost 40 now) LOL they just laugh with me and say well good for you for still looking so young, I tell them I got it from my mom, and I hope I can keep aging like her I will be very luck to look like my mom at her age now.

Yeah, fortunately people usually aren't rude to me, usually they just tell me how much I'm going to love it when I'm 50. hehe.
When I'm with my Grandfather he enjoys asking people (like waiters) how old they think I am and then telling them the truth. That feels kind of funny. Especially when an 18 year old waitress was previously calling me 'sweetie' because she thought I was a kid. :-p

Yeah, that stinks for your son. It's especially annoying when you're younger. But I know how he felt sort of.
I think people just don't think when they make comments like that.

hehe. True! Though, I'm 24 and I don't mind when people think I'm 18/19. It's when they think I'm 14/15 that it rather bugs me.
When I was young people thought I was older (or were just to embarassed to ask my age in clubs and bars!) But now I am older (37) people think I am younger..perfect! (although a few grey hairs are creeping in...must get some hair dye ) A lot of it is how you put yourself accross..I hope I never grow up (no pun intended!) Rich Come and say hello!

Sorry for freaking you out..my sense of humour gets the better of me sometimes and just goes to show Iv'e no chane of 'growing up! Why not send me a 'What If' about anything
we were at one of those buffet places and hostess asked if my daughter who is 22-but only 5'1" and weighs 80 pounds-if she was under 12. I said "no she is 22 and a college graduate."
The woman was apoligizing all over herself and she should have. My daughter is small, but she has boobs, a tiny waist and goodsized hips so she has a woman's figure, just small-no under 12 year old would have a woman's figure-yes she looks young-but goodness you can tell she has gone through puberty!

I often wonder that too when I get that. Sure, small and young looking... but hello, hips, a chest, a decent sized tush... pretty womanly. :-p
