I think the speed camera myth has to be revisited. The guys just didn't get up to the right speed. Here in Germany you have the "Autobahn" where there's literally no speed limit. 120 mph is a common travelling speed and most of the cars you find out there can actually do this. When there's no traffic (at night) you can go as fast as your car can. You can find many videos on youtube where people drive at 220 mph and it's perfectly legal.
As far as I know you can beat (German) speed cameras this way. I think this myth is plausible.

The way that is guaranteed to work every time is real simple: "DRIVE THE SPEED LIMIT" and the speed camera will never go off.

This myth was already revisited in the myth evolution episode in season 6. They beat the camera traveling at approx 250mph in 'the beast'.

So how about this idea to beat the speed camera. SInce it is a digital camera taking the picture at some point that camera will over expose. SO why not have a flash device rigged to the cars license plate that is fired by a slave trigger whenever the speed camera fires. Even if the camera is set on automatic at somepoint it will overexpose

Hello over there... I´m a newbee, but was to lacy to read all the faq`s, so i just go ahead telling you my story, about speed cameras and how you can avoid to get a ticket (at least in Austria).
The mythbusters testet the speed camera myths in Myth Evolution Season 5 Episode 18. Several fans said, you can beat the camera with speed alone.
That actually happend in Austria. But the guy/ car itself wasen´t going too fast for the camera. According to the myth, as it was told to me, he somehow put metal balls (sorry, no idea wich material exactly) into the wheels, as they are a part from the area, where the speed gets mesured. The balls inside the wheels where spinning too fast for the device to catch the actual speed. Still the camera would be triggerd, but without the concret speed mesured you can´t get a ticket. In Austria the law says, the more you go ofer the speed limit, the more you have to pay... so no speed, no ticket! Maybe you could someday come back to that one day. Unfortunatly our "local Mythbusters" are really lame and won`t test the myth, allthough it was even in the newspapers. In the end the guy got caught, as the camera apperantly only was not working well when he passed it, bad thing, it was just his car, where the police allways could get a picture but never the speed. (sorry for the bad english...) o yeah, almost forgot.. I am a big Fan!!!
