As for everyone who says "Oh, just wait for it!" That attitude the exact reason they can get away with things like this.
In fact, attitudes like that have historically allowed politicians, governments, businesses and regimes to do whatever they want, because "Good golly gosh you shouldn't be getting your panties in a twist!".
Sorry to be mean, but it's 2:00 AM and I can't get to sleep.
1AM is over and done with - mission failed. I am however, waiting for an explanation. We don't even get to see the viral episode in 2 weeks, we get to see the NASA one, THEN, MAYBE, the viral one. That could be a month away, fail on Discoverys part.
Edit: Least they could do is air it next week, then nasa, then ninjas.
That's really stupid! We all really wanted to see that viral hour. Couldn't discovery post at least some part (if not the whole thing) on their website? That would calm the anger!
And yeah the NASA episode has been done and redone by so many other shows so yeah, not really excited about it! And they did already such a trick with the airplane on a convayor belt!
A lot of people here need to get over their pompous, holier than thou, selves. People have a right to be angry and express that anger in a non-destructive way.
The fact is that posting your disappointment here is a very good thing. It directs it towards the right people and also displays, to some level, the popularity of the show. The less complaints Discovery receives about these things, the less marketable the program is perceived to be and their investment into the show will drop.
Do you want Mythbusters to be canceled? No? Then not only post with fanatic obsession but get your friends to do so as well!
Personally, I get so zoned out during Mythbusters that the commercials become like subliminal messages. I can't even remember the episode the first time around so it takes be three or sometimes four showings for it to stick in my mind and by then I've been severely brainwashed to buy anything that was marketed during the showings. Mythbusters is a great investment to advertisers!
WOW, DITO ALL OF THE OTHER 28 PAGES OF COMPLAINTS. First smash lab is ok'd for another season, than a screw up on discoveries favorite show. Discovery is lucky I have been watching Mythbusters from the start.
I dont know why the new episodes wont air on their quoted dates. Yet, as a fan of the show I'll say that the reason must be a good one. Delaying a new episode for 2 weeks is a tough call to make. Whoever made the call knew that it'd be a bomb in the forum and for the moderator. I think to myself, why would they need to do it and the conclusion is conjecture but simple enough. To guarantee the kind of quality we have come to expect from the show which is the very reason we're unhappy it didnt come on. In conclusion, be a fan and patiently wait for the best they have to offer. Because none of you would be here complaining about it if they hadnt been giving us that all along.
Holy cow! I go to bed and then when I get home from work this morning I see that the thread is still going strong....
I hope this causes a little bit of a "pucker factor" for whomever made this lousy decision to pull the episode at the last minute. Maybe he/she could be forced to stand in for Buster in the next episode.....
Hey MythMod ... small question ... am I missing something or did all but one of my posts from last night suddenly disappear?
For everybody keeping score at home, do an Author search on my username, brettf22. You'll find one hit. I posted about 5 times last night. If you'd like to see some of what was censored, do a text search on my username. You'll find quotes from some of my posts scattered throughout the fist 20 or so pages.
I used no banned words. I made no personal attacks. I simply was pointing out how poorly I thought this situation was handled. For this, my posts were deleted. Again, not the best in terms of customer service.
Censoring people for simply disagreeing with you is not cool.
Now that I am calmed down, my only plea is that when the new airtimes do get scheduled that a new topic is formed with something to that effect in the title so we do not all have to go swimming through this topic trying to find it. Thanks.
First of all, I find the censoring of dissenting opinions to be humorous. After all, many of us would not be here if DC didn't drop the ball. I was content to never participate in the forum community. I hate forums. I especially hate the inherent censorship that arises when corporate interests are at stake.
What happened was a joke. Was I supposed to have seen their forum alert? Really? I've never visited this site before last night. Don't expect any message posted here to be seen by even 10th of the viewers. Lots of people don't have the Internet.
I really don't feel like waiting around to see this mess resolved. There are plenty of great shows that don't take their viewers for granted. When the new MB episodes finally do air, there's a good chance I won't notice. You can expect I'll be watching a program that actually appreciates my viewership.
And btw, I will never watch the Chinese Olympics. Never ever. Postponing on their behalf is ridiculous, considering there are at least two other non-Olympic programs vying for my attention each week. I've been a huge fan of MB since day one, but I'm not above watching something else.
