I arrived here only because I was searching for an explaination for the adds that made me want to see the new episode and the fact the show was not on. Now that I am here I find there is no explanation. Regardless of the reason I feel some explanation is in order. Time to remove all discovery channel shows from the Tivo??? That will cure my disappointment anyway. It is like a guy play with the dog. Showing him the ball over and over then pretending to send it out across the yard...and NOTHING! I feel silly for chasing.

I think discovery Channel really DID something that might have made us happier. Look at it this way: you all are Mythbusters fans right? So you all like the show and watch it every Wednesday? Now, notice that they've taken some other show off the air at 8:00 so they can show the full Mythbusters special to make up for not airing the new episode. They still tried to satisfy the fans, by showing us not just a regular Mythbusters episode, but by canceling one show at 8:00, and airing 2 hours of Mythbusters glory. Even though it's a repeat, Pirate Special is an awesome episode IMO (even though they tested the cutting a sail with a knife myth without wind :S). If you all love Mythbusters as much as I do, then you should have enjoyed the Pirates Special, even though you've seen it before. What made me mad in the first place, is that they showed a whole bunch of commercials for the new episode between 8:00-9:00. I have no idea what that was all about.

You have to be kidding me. I've seen that stupid pirate episode at least three times. I don't watch re-runs. Of ANY show. Especially when there are two NEW episodes of other shows I enjoy airing in the same time slot.

So you have it on DVD? I have it saved on my computer, big woop. But if you don't like watching Mythbusters regularly even though they are repeats, then you don't sound very fanatic.

I've watched every ep since day one. But suddenly I'm not as big a fan as you because I don't go along with whatever the DC execs decide to show, regardless of what was advertised. You sound like a sheep. Just sayin...

Mythmod,
I, for one, would like to give you a hearty "Thank You!" for letting us know as soon as YOU knew. Unlike many here (it would seem), I'm well aware that you have NOTHING to do with the programming, and that the switch-up was NOT your doing. Sure, I was disappointed (although, since I had a migraine last night, I probably wouldn't have made it through an entire episode anyway), but to come here and take it out on you is simply the act of a spoiled child. To play off the restaurant analogy you use earlier, it's a bit like getting angry at the waitress because the kitchen ran out of prime rib.
Additionally, I'm aware that you most likely simply DON'T KNOW why they changed things around. From what I understand, the folks YOU know are all connected with the production of the show, not program scheduling (meaning Jamie, Adam, Dan et al probably don't know any more about the "why" than you do).
So again, "Thank you" for letting us know as soon as you knew, and "thank you" for putting up with all this nonsense. Don't let them get you down; after all, it's not like it's an airplane on a treadmill, right?

Hmm, I'm watching discovery right now and I see on the DirectTV guide thing, that there's an empty slot for one hour at 10:00. It's just a blank space that says "No discription available". Could they be thinking about airing Mythbusters Viral Hour at 10:00 then? Former Viewer: I just wanted to say that that's a good episode, and even though I didn't see viral hour, I saw Mythbusters which is my 2nd favorite show on TV (Top Gear is my #1 favorite ).

What a disappointment. No explanation, no nothing. Way to treat loyal viewers.
I'm confused by the people saying "lay off the moderator". I guess I missed the posts blaming anything on the moderator...
And the guy telling people "CALM DOWN!"... LOL, good luck with that. Get much success with that approach in daily life?
I was already shaking my head in disgust at Disblubbery when I found out that, against all moral obligations, social contracts, common law and human reasoning powers, they had renewed "The Execrable Smash Lab". (Wonder if "execrable" is a trigger word? Guess we'll find out.)

Nobody is blaming mythmod for that! Mythmod is, as always doign a GREAT job! We are all blaming the discovery channel. But maybe they think that bad publicity is also a publicity, and seriously they don't care because we won't stop watching Mythbusters even if they did that every two weeks. And maybe they had that planned to get more people on the forum? By the look of it, it worked!

Reading over this thread, it seems there are quite a few people screaming directly at MM for it.
People are frustrated and angry, and that's just fine - I don't blame them a bit. They need to take it out on Discovery, though, not MM.

When I heard that mythbusters was reschuduled, I went to the MB central and it showed that the new Viral hour would air today at 8pm Central time. Is this not correct?

Myth: We can believe what's promised to us by Discovery.
First I was lied to about what episode was being aired last Wednesday, now I get fed the pirate episode after being told it was going to be a new one all week!
The MINIMUM should have been a comment sometime during the week that new shows were going to be moved. At least lube me up Discovery!
Next thing I know Bear Brills will be outed as a fake... oh wait.

Top Gear is probably my favorite, too. That show is a breath a fresh air on Mondays. But it has no competition in my eyes. I'm a big fan of Ghosthunters and Monsterquest (both air opposite MB on scifi and history, respectively). So I didn't watch MB, I watched the other shows. And this is where DC loses out, cause there's a logjam of good shows in that slot. Shows that don't get reaired multiple times like MB, so it makes sense for me to watch them first.

And now look at this:
Aug 14, 10:00 pm (60 minutes) MythBusters Viral Hour TV-PG, CC
On this infectious episode of Mythbusters, we give internet 'viral videos' a timely check-up. They're exciting, funny, and sometimes barely credible. We can't wait to pass them on to our ten best friends, but can we truly believe everything we see?
We might have a chance here guys!!

I just checked my DirectTV, and it says Exploding Lighter airs tonight. It also canceled the autotune I had scheduled for that slot, meaning they changed what was originally supposed to air (Viral).

Ok, first off I do not appreciate the censorship by mythmod. How dare you censor what I have to say, and put words on here that I did not say.
Second, I am still really mad about this.
