Discovery was still showing "new episode tonight at 9:00" commercials as of 6:00 p.m. today. At least the DISH guide was correct this week. What a bunch of amateurs. Am I upset? No, it's just a TV show, but they sure could handle things a little more professionally. Are they that afraid of the Olympics? It's freakin' platform diving tonight. I think Adam and Jamie would blow them out of the water.

I logged on to GEICO.com today and they did not save me 15% on my car insurance.....as a matter of fact, they wanted over 35% more than I am paying now. You cannot fathom how angry I am!!!

I think that the new episodes were pre-empted because of the olympics. Most people would be watching that so it would of been a disapointment for Discovery Channel to broadcast the new Mythbusters because of the viewing audience.I to was mad when the new episodes didn't show. Can't wait till next week. everything is back to normal.

Discovery should have known about the olympics before they aired the commercials. Commercials that aired up to 10 minutes before 9 last wednesday.

These new shows better be good.

Cool

To answer your question, yes, they had to reschedule the new episodes. However, Discovery was wrong to continue to rotate the new promos long after the debacle. Besides perpetuating a lie, it showed a lack of professionalism. So, to say they didn't do anything wrong is in itself, wrong.

Last minute decisions happen and regardless of what you think about it, they made a professional choice.

Typically a respondent should understand what they quote before replying.

I did.

Lets say that did make a statement about why they postponed the shows. Many would of still missed it and we still would hear the complaints.

I may have heard wrong, but I heard that the Olympics were doing better this year when compared to past years. Last minute ratings could be the reason for the postponed shows.

LOL! They did the same thing for Wednesday? I didn't even watch the network this whole week.
A mixture of, "I'm still angry" and "I don't have time for getting jerked around."

Troll, if people had the "Oh it's just a tv show it doesn't matter" sort of mentality Family Guy would still be canned.

The fact that that show had any success at all, shows you how screwed up society is.

When it comes down to it, every show is just a TV show. If you look at most of our society now day, you can see that they need to put less importance on TV and more on being active.

If you had read the very first post on this thread, you'd have known that a week ago.

Lets look again at what was written. I wrote, "Discovery was wrong to continue to rotate the new promos long after the debacle. Besides perpetuating a lie, it showed a lack of professionalism. So, to say they didn't do anything wrong is in itself, wrong."

To which you replied, "Last minute decisions happen and regardless of what you think about it, they made a professional choice."

You're talking about what happened on Debacle Wednesday, such as running the new episode promo 10 minutes prior to the repeat Pirate episode. I'm talking about Discovery deliberately running ads for the next 7 days which lied about the following Wednesday's new show. There was no "last minute decisions happen" in allowing that to continue past Thursday, knowing full well by that time that the next new episode wouldn't happen for another 14 days. That night, 10 minutes beforehand, maybe, but not for another 7 days.

For that reason only, I say Discovery could of handled the situation more professionally and was wrong to allow the new episode Wednesday promos to continue to rotate throughout the rest of the week.

Oh, and just because there was a new promo 10 minutes beforehand doesn't mean that the decision to pull the episode didn't happen earlier. Clearly the new promo ads are not a good indication of when a new episode will air. The episode could have been pulled a week earlier, giving Discovery plenty of time to make a real "professional choice".

I really don't care what Discovery's reasons were and I don't expect them to ever issue an official statement for pulling the episode. In fact, I find it ludicrous to believe that they should issue a statement.

What I did say was that Discovery could have ran a simple Crawler along the top of the screen during the Pirate episode which included nearly the same text that Discovery did use in the MythBusters Ticker. I don't think it requires a leap of understanding that the fans of the show might be a little curious after seeing weeks of promos indicating a new show was about to happen, when it didn't.

Ten minutes is a lot of time to type, "The originally scheduled new episode of MythBusters has been rescheduled". It would have avoided a lot of confusion and would have had a direct impact on those concerned.

I could be wrong too, I doubt it was the Olympics that caused the cancellation of the episode.

The Moon Landing Hoax Episode wasn't one of the ones that was rescheduled. The two rescheduled episodes were Viral Hour and Ninja 2.

I don't think trash like that would postpone even a commercial.
