the most probable cause of death by performing this task would be asperation or drowning from the coke going in your lungs wath the pop rocks episode if you want some info on gastric rupture it is next to impossible

right as the diet coke hits the mentos instant reaction all of that pressure would go to the opening to the stomach

when you pour it it still contains a little cO2 until it hits so it will only go up a little so it doesnt matter but a little not so big to make a fuss about

i agree that they didn't go about this one in the right way. the guy in the video obviously ate the mentos before drinking the coke...perhaps having the mentos already in the stomach make the coke release all of its carbonation faster when it hits the stomach. going the other way, the coke has time to sit there & release carbonation before the mentos hit the stomach.

i also think that everyone who has mentioned other organs surrounding the stomach make a good point. with limited space in which to expand, it'll all come back up the esophagus, and if it can't release the pressure fast enough that way then you might have a possibility of stomach rupturing.

my dad also suggests that fact that the mentos were chewed up might make a difference, although i'm not sure about that myself.

chewing the mentos would not have made a difference because the surface contains little pores of c02

I do believe they have a perfect video of this on YouTube, if you want to see what would really happen if you drank diet coke and ate a mentos at the same time you should watch it.

They have revisited this..... why revisit it again???

Did you not read all the posts earlier?

The guy in the video clip busted this myth himself!!!

Here are the links to TWO videos of the SAME GUY doing the SAME THING, wearing 2 different shirts, 2 different backgrounds... If his stomach really exploded - HOW COULD HE HAVE DONE IT AGAIN?????
