from coast to coast the proper myth is "Liquor before beer your in the clear, Beer before liquor you've never been sicker". So please re-do this myth correctly.

There is a problem with the alcohol test. By sticking with one type of alcohol and not mixing in the first night and just mixing in the second night this is where the myth is wrong.. the saying is "BEER BEFORE LIQUOR MORE THAN SICKER" the other half of this saying is "LIQUOR BEFORE BEER YOUR IN THE CLEAR". this means all in the same night. Not starting one night drinking just beer! Then the next night or few days later you have mixed drinks. The saying is how you start your night.
For an example! If Jon go's out and starts drinking beer till he's starts buzzing, and feeling good. One of his friends gives him a shoot, and continues though the night. he'll be sicker then a dog by morning.
Example two! if Jon started the night with shoots with his friends and finished up with beer he wouldn't be as sick in the morning.
I'm not saying that you wouldn't be sick after a long night of drinking, but the aftermath is not so severe.

thank you

I'm thinking that this "myth" has to do with human nature. If you start your night with hard drinks you are more likely to say, "stop, I'm getting smashed... switch to beer." or water if you prefer. Beer with a lower % of alcohol in it can allow tough men to finish the night with a drink in their hands. The other scenario is you've been out drinking beers all night and now people are buying shots! You are already drunk, you don't really know where you are on your own drunk meter... and everyone knows that one shot will break your night!

It's peoples tendency to overindulge. You have one or two beers too much at the end of the night of drinking and you may still stumble home. You have one or two shots too much at the end of a night drinking and you're in the gutter counting the stars.

I call some beers "headache beers" because they leave me feeling rough the next day. same goes for cheap liquor. You guys need to try it again with the good stuff. Need a volunteer?

Yeah I hate to make you re-do another myth but the myth is actually about the order in which you consume alcohol and not how you consume it."Liquor before beer your in the clear, beer before liquor you've never been sicker".

lovely for you all to start your own thread so that when someone asks you why you didn't get involved in the conversation on the 8 page thread you can pretend that you just didn't see it.

you hate to make the mythbusters re-test another myth?
a) who said you could make them do anything by posting on a message board that's thousands of threads long (also given how many of the threads are repeated by people who can't be asked to look over the FIRST PAGE of posts).
b) you clearly do not hate complaining unencumbered or you wouldn't do so.
c) short re-cap of things said in the actual conversation: THEY GOT THE MYTH WROOOOONG. It wasn't wrong, it's was different from what you heard. WRONG, DIFFERENT, what's the diff? hey, I'm new to the web boards and just had to say that they got the myth WROOOONG........e& e& e&.....page4: hey, here's a metrical analysis of the two phrases and why one is more common than the others, but we're talking about an adage guys, these things change from place to place, quit being so definitive. THEY GOT THE MYTH WROOOOONG. It wasn't wrong, it's was different from what you heard. WRONG, DIFFERENT, what's the diff? hey, I'm new to the web boards and just had to say that they got the myth WROOOONG........e& e& e&.....

so now you're up to date and can come play with everyone else.

Has anyone on here ever heard the myth as it was tested prior to the show? On Google, a quick search for "Stick to beer, you're in the clear" yields a very limited number of results, every single one of which is directly related to the MythBusters episode. Conversely, a search for "Beer before liquor, never been sicker" will turn up many thousands of results from across the globe.

Now I am in no way saying that Google is the be all and end all of alcohol-related myths... But given the popularity of alcohol rhymes with college students, and the college students' propensity to use the internet, it seems like "Stick to beer, you're in the clear" would end up somewhere on the internet in a context unrelated to MythBusters if in fact it was saying used even on a barely semiregular basis.

So far it's looking to me like this variation of the rhyme was generated by the show itself - i.e., they made it up. If anyone has any info to suggest otherwise, please share it! Now "made up" does not mean "wrong", of course, but it's easy to see where all these posters are coming from when they say the myth was incorrect. And obviously one can't exclude the possibility that the MB version is used in some remote Irish village or something like that, but so far there doesn't appear to be a strong case for the authenticity of the saying.

I loved this episode, but the alcohol myth was not tested thoroughly enough. The saying goes, "Beer before liquor, never been sicker. Liquor before beer, your in the clear." They should have also tested the effect of just liquor and also the liquor before the beer.

In all honesty, watching Kary torture Tory and Grant is a guilty pleasure. And seeing Grant in the dizzy chair is the best.
