So when the Mythbusters tested the hand grenade in the refrigerator stunt, it turned the fridge into a giant fragmentation grenade.
Wasn't that the exact same thing that happened in the "Monk" episode? The only difference was that by the time the grenade went off Monk and run into another room. It was that, and not the fridge, that saved him.
This was a pretty cool stunt to do and a good excuse to do it, but the original story was something other than the stated Myth.

I'm just curious about the results of this myth busters episode... I just saw this episode on July 7th and there was one major difference I noticed between the Monk episode and the replication of the myth. In the TV episode there was food/beverages, etc. in the refrigerator, but in the replication the refrigerator was completely empty. Would the refrigerator contents have any effect on the outcome of this myth? It may not, but since refrigerators are often full of liquids and solids (and it was shown that a bucket of water could substantially reduce the shrapnel of a grenade) I just wondered if the results would be altered at all.

I noticed one other thing, in the Monk episode the refrigerator had walls on the back and left sides of the fridge, and cabinets on the right side. that would secure the fridge from moving, and just blow the doors off the front. The wall on the left would also help keep Monk safe, since he ran that direction.

This is true, the dummies they put up were DIRECTLY next to the fridge, not in the other room, behind a wall.
