Sure, some myths, like "22,000 Foot Fall" or "Son of a Gun," do not have any application in the real world. But other really are useful. Now you know how dangerous it is to use the shower or telephone in a thunderstorm.

Other myths are not "sensible" for use in the real world, but are worthwhile because they are so cool, such as breaking glass with your voice.

The dog myths were useful as well proving that bloodhounds are fantastic for finding people and that if you get an old dog that has some quirks, you can train it.

Oh, yeah, and all the fuel efficiency myths. The whole "car myth" category, in fact. You can't beat a radar detector or a speed camera, and now you know how to escape from a sinking car (hopefully, anyway).

Maybe your dad should join the board and suggest some "sensible" myths.

You don't have a right to complain about something unless you get off your duff and do something to change it.

The research team make their money finding and getting the facts on the ideas they do on the show, each show idea goes through a lot before it makes it to the screen.

Tell your day "Dude, it's just a tv show" and end the conversation there.

Mythbusters is a tv show. Above all else it must be entertaining, not practical or educational. Mythbusters would lose much of it's appeal if it aimed to be completely practical. A love of explosions is not practical, a lot of the fun stuff on the show isn't practical, but it is enjoyable.
