The MythBusters put several wildly held car beliefs to the test - will a bullet cause a gas tank to explode? Will various unorthodox additives help or harm a car engine?

on the episode they tried different additives to a car's gas tank to make the engine die. One attempt was to add sugar to the tank and it didn't kill the engine. Well the secret is to mix the sugar with hot water to melt the sugar from a solid to a semi-liquid state in with the water and then pour it into a gas tank so it can pass thru the fuel filter better. It will definitely stop an engine I have done it over 3 times and have a 100% success record.

One thing that they didn't take into consideration was they were using an old engine and the newer engines just would not do well with non-recommended fluids, further testing would need to be done on newer engines with sensors and fuel injectors and see what the results would be then.

The myth about the scuba diver was asinine! It goes like this:
1. The myth is based on the OLD way of doing it with an airplane that SCOOPED water out of a lake by skimming the water with a door open that was like a ramp, not pumping it in using a helicopter and a pump.
2. The myth says the plane scooped up water in the manner described and a diver was SCOOPED up along with the water.
3. When the plane dumped the water, the diver was dropped into the fire zone.
4. IF it was done with a helicopter and an enormous pump, would they leave the pump on the whole time they were in the air so the diver could stay attached?!!!!!!!!!!!!
5. I would have expected these mechanical geniuses to have seen how stupid what they were trying to do was.

I would definately agree with wickedspawn about having to transform the sugar to a semi liquid state...I have a couple times had to place this curse on my foes, but instead of using water I have always used Rubbing Alcohol...Works great..
