STAY ON TOPIC. This is not about Poat. It's about them not SHOWING POAT.
You deleted my post! WTH??!! All I needed was that first post to feel accepted, to feel part of this group. Now I have nothing!!! Nothing!
Let's try this again...
As for the NARROW topic of this thread, I'm not completely believing it was a simple oversight which resulted in multiple TV listing descriptions being incorrect. I'll buy that a late decision was made not to include PoaT in yesterday's show, and that there was not enough time for affiliates to update their listings.
Some people really need to relax. Sure, it's OK to be disappointed. But to actually get upset?? Come on! It's a TV show!!!

You're gonna see how un-ambiguous means nothing to many people here!
Well, I am feeling a little anxious. What if, after all this time, I am wrong. I don't see how I can be, but then again, I've never actually put an airplane on a quarter mile conveyor belt before. I will have to rewrite all of my PoaTry.
As the saying goes, the difference between theory and practice is that in theory, there is no difference; in practice, there is.
Doesn't matter what you believe, the truth is the truth.
If you choose not to believe the truth, that's your choice.
Considering you are an "outsider" looking into a very narrow window when it comes to Discovery Communications, you have absolutely no basis to make that extremely incorrect assumption.
The guy who didn't go to his wedding, the two who were going to commit suicide, the few who made threats and taunts to both cast/crew and people posting here - yeah.. that's all flushe.. er... removed.
They won't remove the error from the web site until it's determined who/what/when/why and how.
I find it funny that no one checked their local listings.... *sigh* guess that's just something I do.

That's really infuriating coming from a mod, since the local listings did in fact quite clearly say that they would be testing a plane taking off from a conveyor belt.
And who supplies your "local listings?" Comcast, Cox, WideOpenWest, DirecTV, TiVo, Moxi, etc. etc. had the correct data. So far the only two sources that were incorrect were the Discovery Channel schedule and TVGuide.
Perhaps the extent to which the PoaT question has been debated in the general public, and the reputation of MythBusters as an authoritative source, was grossly underestimated by TDC. Some might consider the programming “glitch” equivalent to promoting the Super Bowl and then broadcasting “Heidi” instead. Some flak is to be expected and “oops” or “didn’t happen on my shift” is just not a very satisfactory response. Personally, I can live with it and my world goes on, but I think the glitch may have alienated a potentially large group of first-time viewers that may not get over it any time soon.
In the teaser, I see the unskilled klutzes use an r/c plane. With a host of skilled flyers who can do the job available for simply asking in the SF area...
It's not EXPERTS running experiments it's "every day joe" science.
Also, you should keep your name calling to yourself. Since it's inconsiderate comments like that that are keeping the cast from the board.

. R/c plane flying ISN'T something just anyone can do. It's more difficult than it looks, to do it right. If you look way back in the POAT threads, you'll see me concerned about this use of unskilled people. When the test requires a modicum of skill just to get the test done, then call for someone that has that skill. Many times the 'busters do this.. using the ultra-light pilot for instance. The helicopter flier used for the "birds in a box" episode for instance, had no skill flying helicopters, which are EXTREMELY difficult to fly. But even with the r/c cars the 'busters screw it up. Competent help is available, if they bother to look for it. I've talked to the heli-shop owner that supplies their helicopters, and he's ready and willing, for instance.
Anytime they've interviewed for a show or news story or talk, they say the show is EVERY DAY JOE SCIENCE. Consulting experts is something they do on an every day basis. If they let the experts do everything that people THINK they should do, the cast would be sitting in chairs around the blue print table, talking through the entire episode while the experts do what they do.
I'm sure that Jamie has SOME experience with R/C creations.
You haven't even see the entire show segment and you're complaining about content already? I hate to say this, but some people will never be satisfied.
I've spent a considerable portion of my professional career in flight testing, where actual death in a test was always a consideration, so we took pains to any experiment properly. Which is control ALL the variables, and know what each will do, so that any change in the test condition is due to only the variable being tested for. The first test in the teaser was done better in the Youtube video. The second test duplicates the floor fan on wheels and the computer paper. Other than using different materials, the 'busters opened no new doors. It's not that I'm not satisfied, I'm irritated when I see a full sized remote controlled car running off the test track, uncontrollably. There's no excuse for this. The guys also say they're professionals. But.. Knowing your limits and requesting/accepting assistance is also professional, when the situation is outside your experience.
