I wondered why my link to the board went dead -- and all I was trying to do over on the MB Watercooler was help lordfrogenhall find some "Canoe" aftershave! Razz Wow!

I don't remember, so much happened so fast last night, I don't even recall the name of the person who wanted to meet me in a parking lot to beat me up for my ignorance. Cool

Hmm...

So, "Thanks, I am not married, and I still don't have awesome video of an airplane taking off from a treadmill." is an inappropriate comment? Big Grin

I think you might have been a little quick on the trigger on that one- it was pretty obviously a joke.

Completely understandable under the circumstances, though.

I don't recall there being anything more than is posted on the letsrun site, but I could be wrong. Things were popping pretty fast at the time.

First time for everything. Big Grin

How hard is it to discuss that on the correct thread?

STAY ON TOPIC. This is not about Poat. It's about them not SHOWING POAT.

Ok, lets talk about that.

Someone was told what segments would be on the show. That person had to write the copy for the show.

That copy was approved by someone who then submitted it to whoever distributes the copy to all the cable companies and tv guides.

Name the person who approved the copy.

Whether or not this will matter by this time next week, that person is responsible for the single most retarded screwup in TV history. This far eclipses interrupting a football game with 'Heidi'.

No matter how much "investigating" goes on, nothing will ever come of it and no follow up will ever be announced.

OK, that there is funny!

Best bit of hyperbole so far!

If that guy who missed his wedding get killed by his ex fiance, then we can nominate him for the Darwing Award. It would fit the criteria.

How many of you here haven't made a mistake?

How many of you here haven't forgotten something that was important to someone else? There are people acting like this was done just to make their lives miserable.

IT WAS A MISTAKE. And unless you've NEVER made a mistake or forgotten something - you chalk it up to experience and walk away.

Why WOULD I name the person who approved the copy, since you aren't even here under YOUR real name. Keeping the schedule for all the the channels Discovery runs is a daunting task at best. It's more complicated than "who did this" and the entire even is being looked into.

If that doesn't satisfy you, I don't know what will. They're not going to name names just to satisfy a nameless group on the internet. And yes, if you are not using your real name, you ARE nameless. The choice to reveal your name is yours and the choice to reveal their name is theirs. It's a privacy issue. I'm sure you wouldn't want your name and place of work plastered on a public message board, would you?

shame about not airing that bit but no skin off my back.

Anyone have a direct link to the 'myth' they were going to test? Not one of the countless versions floating around the web but the text of the 'myth' they chose to base their experiment on?

I've seen a few posted on news sites but i'm don't really trust them as teh 'myth' presented hardly looks like the classic PoCB.

Always look foward to MB episodes, even re-runs i've seen 5 times.

I've made plenty of them.

Afterwards, I admitted to the mistake, did what I could to repair the mistake, and apologized to the people that were effected by my mistake.

Thus far, other than Dan's statement (which first of all was not his responsibility and second was only made to a miniscule percentage of the people effected) discovery channel has, to all appearances, done none of these.

No matter how the apology is, many people aren't gonna except it. Its only a show for our entertainment using science. Most of us will continue to watch the show and forget about the minor mistake.

I agree- it isn't the end of the world, and most people are going to keep on watching the show regardless.

However, for anybody, let alone the moderator to be making the satement:

If that doesn't satisfy you, I don't know what will

When there has been ABSOLUTELY NOTHING from the entity at fault- no exlanation, apology, NOTHING- frankly irritates me.

No, "that" does not satisfy me- if "that" is NOTHING.

Docapi, Disco has never apologized for any of their mistakes. What makes you think they will start now?
