What the heck! Did that goat just faint? What is going on? Is this a trick or the real deal?

Talk About It Here!

I have seen these goats several times on TV already, hasn't everyone else? Dirty Jobs had them, and that show is on the same network.

Waste of time redoing it.

Obviously, the MythBusters' segment on fainting goats hasn't aired yet, but... fainting goats are NOT a myth.

There is a certain species of goat that evolved the defense mechanism of playing dead. If they're startled, they will faint... and if an entire herd is startled all at once, they will faint en masse. As I understand it, it's a scientific fact.

Maybe they're going to test barnyard-variety goats to see if they do the same?

Not to state the obvious, but don't any of the Mythbusters watch Dirty Jobs? I think that particular episode aired on the last season, but Mike pretty much confirmed this viral video a while ago. As jimsf said, totally a waste of time. There had to be a better one out there than this.

Now, the truth myth: Did Kari actually flash the goats, or not?

My guess, prolly not. But worth it for Tory's reaction, either way.

It was fun. And it looks to have been shot a few months ago.

Besides, Kari flashed the goats. That is quality television. (I won't say what other thoughts are going through my head, though... don't want to get banned.)

No, they just reconfirmed a well known fact. Luckily they didn't spend much time on it.

Heck I don't care if it's been proven by others. It's the journey and the experment that counts. Mythbusters don't have to be first. Lots of people don't watch those other shows.

On an unrelated note, I'm sure everybody is wondering: Did Kari really do what it looked like during that experiment? There's no way.

I'd bet a solid amount of money that it was faked.

I was thinking the exact same thing. They should have spent the time doing something more interesting.

hmmmm...maybe there's a question in people's minds about the validity of the 'fainting goats' videos they have seen before...thus...myth...thus it's on mythbusters...or maybe the guys shouldn't attempt things that have been on tv...cos everything on tv is true afterall.

I was like what the heck, why are they even bothering? Plus they seemed surprised when it was hard! Mike Rowe had the same amount of trouble.

To me, that's common sense. I mean, she let Tori see it, and it was so obvious that was planned and he was just trying to act and be funny.
