Regarding hitting the ground running. (Ok, so this is an old episode I missed the first time around and there are a number of posts that hit around this same issue.) It seems they missed the meaning of the term "Hit the ground running." This is an old term and may refer to jumping off a horse. (See a calf roping contest at a rodeo sometime.) I have direct experience with it on the farm jumping off modern farm wagons. (We used to jump off a moving wagon and race to get a drink of water - first one to the well got the first drink, while the rest had to wait. ) And I'm sure it goes back to ancient times and carts, etc. The thing was to jump off a moving object and take off running, in lieu of coming to a stop. A person on the gound that started stationary from the same position didn't stand a chance. There was no real leg motion in mid air except to insure you landed correctly on the lead leg. Who got the idea that it required riding and imaginary bike in mid air? Any questions?

I agree with psyspyder, dirtclod and probably others. This myth was incorrecly tested in every test. Everything was droped on the ground with no momentum. The whole point of the phrase is to run to match momentum to avoid stumbling. This would work with actually running, riding bikes and driving a car.
It is just like landing the backside of a jump.
You hit the ground running.
It is CONFIRMED.

Non-bang. Thermite is arguably my favorite mixture. "If it moves and shouldn't: Duct tape. If it doesn't move and should: WD-40. If it exists and shouldn't: Thermite." "There's no problem that can't be solved with enough Thermite." -Qwerty.55
