The thing i found funniest is that even though he's a smoker he wasn't really smoking on camera. it was the whole "puff but don't inhale" thing...maybe because it's a bad example for all the kiddies at home?

That said...they should have also tested menthol vs regular cigs in affecting the breath...or have that be a myth to itself.

as a bartender, i found that the myths with vodka were crossed with myths regarding some other alcohols. For example, bartenders us Gin to clean eyeglasses (perfect degreeser) and 151 removes sharpie ink off skin. Wine stains come out when you pour on the Morton salt (you can watch it absorb into the
salt)andbBeer is a good hair conditioner.... I think Mythbuster hasn't fully explored all myths regarding different uses of alcohol.

I thought the experiment would have been better using cinnamon sticks instead of cinnamon powder. The powder looked nasty. It would have been alot easier to remove sticks than to sieve that slop.

I don't really know a lot about vodka, mouthwash and cinnamon, but upon watching the myth being performed, I had a few thoughts about the myth.

You know that they mixed the vodka with cinnamon, producing the Mythbuster mouthwash right? But after leaving the vodka and the cinnamon to rest for 24 hours, Kari found that the cinnamon had all sunk to the bottom. It didn't mix with the vodka, (if it did, it might not have been that much, anyways) so would it have been possible that the vodka was the one that had 'washed' away the bad breath?

I mean, cinnamon could be detected after Jamie had rinsed his mouth with the Mythbuster mouthwash... So could the cinnamon have been there just for flavor/scent, (Try our new mouthwash! It's cinnamon fresh!) and the vodka simply there to repel and get rid of most of the bad breath?

Maybe they should have done tests, with simply vodka, vodka + cinnamon, vodka + (insert spice/whatever here), normal mouthwash etc etc.. But it's just my opinion, though. Haha.

By the way, Jamie should have eaten garlic and onions to add on to the foul breath. Garlic + onion breath stinks like hell! Haha.

Julie and Xankrys -- from what I've heard, Adam has managed to quit smoking. I don't know if it was before or after this episode was filmed, but if before he was probably trying not to inhale so he wouldn't get back in the habit.

Holadios -- you've got your MythBusters mixed up, Adam did that test Smile .

Also, the mouthwash wasn't a mix of cinnamon and vodka. I don't recall the technical term offhand, but this is a common technique in herbalism -- steep the herb in alcohol to extract the working parts. Most herbalism guides say to use grain alcohol, but most herbalists I've known use either vodka or Everclear, whichever is on sale that week.

how about if you run cheap vodka through a water filter (brita, pur etc), that it will make the vodka taste better?
