If 29 is the younger crowd, then I am deffinitely below it, however, I do not like the excessive explosions. I cannot say anything about the silliness, because, to me, the show has always been a bit "silly" (especially with Adam around).

Well, it certainly feels scripted. And if it is being "re-shot", then it effectively is. Even if the origonal material was not scrpited but then someone says do it like this or say it like that, It's scripted. I find it hard to believe that some of it isn't scripted though. Just watch some episodes where they bring up a subject and say, "you know.... was the ... of the ...", then jamey says "yeah... and just like .... he ..." Adam "Right" JAmey " so we're gonna .... if the ... was really....."

Certain times it is well known what they are talking about and it's kind-of like having a waitress repeat your order back to you after you have already eaten it. Pointless.

I also find it hard to believe that they are not "Scripting" because they have already decided what myth they are going to tackle, most likely, from someone other than them. A producer for instance. So the rhetoric that they go through at the begiinning of the show is not a real conversation at all. They already know what is happening.

The younger crowd is 29?? Wow, I actually did watch Beavis and B'head for about a month when I was like 14 I think. Other than that, I have been more.. uhh.. mature than that. I wouldn't watch sesame street because I thought it was stupid.

I wish the Mythbusters would use more science when going about the myths.

THATS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!!

unfortunately the latest seasons of mythbusters has lost it's geek appeal and is getting more and more like the british show 'Brainiac' (it's more of a beer swilling yokel version of mythbusters, with compulsory explosions EVERY episode).

Mythbusters has indeed been going downhill (for me anyways). I've come to voice my concern and discontent as well as to bump this thread.

Reasons its been going downhill:

1. There seems to be a lot of this now that we have disproved/confirm the myth lets rev things up. I would like more on the details of how a conclusion was arrived at and on less with the over the top fireworks/firearms. At no point in time on the show should I feel that I am seeing Frank (the retired FBI) as much as Jamie/Adam but that's how I feel.

2. I don't care for the ‘Diesel Diaries’. I don't see the relevence it has on the show and if you must put it in, do so at the end of the show so those who want to watch it can and those that don't, don't have to.

3. What happened to the "Warning Science Content" I loved that stuff and it was so informative.

4. Then there's all that "because we couldn't fit everything onto the show..." Trust me with a little editing, less recapping, you could fit it all in. I have never actually watched what was excluded from the show (never thought it would be worth my trouble and it felt like very used car salesman-like).

P.S. My favorite episodes/myths actually did not have any explosions. And I loved those episodes where they pitted Jamie and Adam against each other to see who was better at something.

Regarding your #2....

"Diesel Diaries" isn't actually part of the show, it's just a series of commercials the 3 did that are intended to LOOK like part of the show. If it were gone, the time would just be filled by a different commercial.

First off, I'll apologize if any of this has been addressed before.
I definitely miss the science aspect of the program; explosions are nifty, but I find many myths are tested that, to me, don't merit a 50% stake in a 42-minute program, when they could be quickly and decisively busted using simple physics calculations.
Regarding the scripting of content, anything we as viewers see that is not shot in a location where they are working is scripted. All the material shown at the beginning of the program, during the "Blue Print" discussions, has been shot *after* all their testing has taken place. This is easily noticed if you pay attention to their clothing, i.e. Adam's shirt is the same during segments in that room regardless of when they happen during the course of the show. Also, most any time you see them taking "multiple days" at a location for testing, it's usually one day that is simply chopped up (why film 1 explosion/myth in a day when you can get 6?). Like movies and other television programs, MB is likely shot in the most cost effective manner possible.

The only scripted part of the entire show is Robert Lee's (narrator for most broadcastings of the show) lines. The team's lines are not scripted; it just seems that way. They have to take several takes to get everything right to get a good shot, and they don't have the same enthusiasm as the first take.

ok, today discovery did a whole day of mythbusters, possibly still going i don't know as i didn't watch it all but that's because i had stuff to do, not because i don't like MB.

I love mythbusters to bits i really do, i've watched every episode they've done, including the latest ones, i must say i do prefer the old style of doing things, where we'd see them go to buy guns or plane pieces or even kinky rubber suits, but some things that cheese me off are basically most things that have been said already, the showing of the results before the show, the mass of explosions without much scientific backup.

i'm a 19 year old male and i preferred the old show because you learnt something while laughing , now you just seem to be learning not a lot or nothing and smirking a little.

i also really liked when they had scotty the metal worker, she was great she was like the anti-kari ( although kari is still good =] ) like the talking to plant episode, as far as i remember it had no explosions but there was some great tv watching right there!

what i'm trying to say is, Discovery... People in the production office for mythbusters, you had a great thing going and it would NOT take much to restore that former glory, you say " No Time ", well quite trying to cram 3000 myths into one episode. the very first episode you did was great and it had two myths in it, we saw into the way you got the bits you needed to bust or confirm the myth, we saw you put it together with laughter and tears, and what we didn't see was the result right at the beginning of the show!

you probably wont read this and if you do you're not going to do anything about it, but think about this, This program inspired me to want to learn about science, it made me learn stuff even though i was laughing. Why reduce it to just showing us that explosives go boom and break stuff? we know they do, five seconds on youtube looking at a military explosives drop or people making thermite or nitroglycerine will show you that!

Maybe they’ve just busted all the good myths. Maybe that’s why they’re reduced to busting fantasy movies and You-Tube clips. I love the show, but for the life of me I can’t think of a worthy myth they haven’t already busted or confirmed.

I assume you mean "mention." (And, just to let you know, the age limit on this site is 13.)

So...the new episode(Knock Your Socks Off) just premiered, and there was supposed to be editing changes along the lines of what we said in this topic. I don't think there was any difference, really.

Will this show ever be as good as as it was around the time breaking and entering episode where they tried beating security systems? That was definitely the peak of the show. Knock your socks off has to be the worst myth ever. Why do they have to give the MB's dialog? Just let them wing it.

How could you do a duct tape episode and not mention Macgyver.

They need to do more conspiracy myth episodes like the moon landing episode.

Smashing a allegdly frozen head from immersion in liquid nitrogen for 5 seconds ala some "Jason" movie??

And then they didn't even show the pig result because it was too graphic.

Mythbusters has become a horrible shock-clown spectre of what it once was. And they're not even doing that all the way.

A shame.

It was a low, but still better than "poo polishing".

They don't. The show isn't scripted (except for some of the narration), but even the most spontaneous dialog will sound scripted after 7 or 8 "takes".

Then they shouldn't have so many takes, or have any takes at all. Do what they did in the earlier shows, have them spontaneously explain things and say funny stuff, but don't...how to describe this...set up a shot with them saying something, just have them say it wherever they are/whatever they're doing.

Wow-wee! I knew there was something differrent about MB! I guess I just kept thinking it'd start being like the old episodes again... I thought it was a one (term used loosely) time thing, I guess it's not going to change though... Frown

Well I'm still a fan and will be a fan 'til the end (which is nigh)...but I guess I'll have to get my geek fix elsewhere...

I seriously dislike it when people presume to tell me something about myself. How do you know whether or not people on here (myself included) honestly care about the quality of the show? Sure, my caring only goes so far because it is (at the end of the day) only a TV show; however, I'm sure that there are people posting in this thread who really care enough to want to try and make the quality of the show better.
