I wanted to challenge my body. It hasn't changed and I've been doing ellipticals, treadmills, step classes and I feel like Yoga would change my body. Has anyone had a positive body changing story for me BECAUSE of Namaste Yoga? I just did it this morning. I feel like it was the "Third Eye" episode. The only thing was that, it was a little easy...or am I doing it wrong? Please, your insights are welcomed. Thanks!
Hi New2Yoga, I've been doing Namaste every weekday for the last two weeks (as well as joining Weight Watchers to try to lose 30-40 lbs and doing 30 min on a treadmill every day), and I've noticed that I feel more energetic, less tired during the day, and have lost over 6 lbs and 2 inches each from my bust, waist, and hips. It's hard to say what action is contributing most to this, or if it is the combo of all three things, but I think yoga is definitely helpful at least in helping me feel energized and maintaining my flexibility.
I know I am new at this, but from the last two weeks, I find some program's sequences easy, some in-between, and some challenging (the only yoga experience I had before this was a class I took at my college last year 2 days a week for one semester, so I know most of the poses but haven't practiced much since then). I haven't seen the Third Eye program yet, but I usually find the sequences that require flexibility (triangle, revolved triangle) fairly easy since I'm pretty flexible and those that require a lot of balancing (today's program, riding the wind) more challenging since my balance needs improvement. I bet if you keep watching, you'll probably notice a similar pattern with yourself in that some days you'll have an easier time than others. Even if not, you could try watching the program once a day for a few weeks and see if you end up feeling more energized.
I discovered this program almost a year ago when I was beginning my efforts to lose a little weight and get in better shape. I had changed my diet and was seeing some weight loss. I had practiced yoga a little on my own in the past and had taken just a very few classes, so I was really a beginner learning the poses. The results after taking up pretty much a daily practice have been amazing and life-changing. I lost the 20 pounds that I wanted to lose, but more importantly I am in better physical shape. Probably the best shape of my life. The other kind of hidden benefit to this has been an internal change. I am more peaceful and less stressed. I start my day with this yoga program and I follow the program with a time of meditation. Many of the poses were challenging at first. Now I find that I can do most of them. I have also gone beyond just this program to explore other places where I can learn more about yoga. I find Kate Porter's easy style and positive approach wonderful and I hope this program remains on the air for a very long time. It is the centerpiece of my daily practice. Just a side-note. I am not what you would call a "young" person, at least not age wise. I started a serious daily yoga practice just before my 55th birthday. I'm probably in better shape now that some women half my age. So, it is never too late to start practicing yoga.
I LOVE this show...yes I know it is short but after spending the summer rushing home to catch it I bought the DVD and I LOVE it....I am a middle school teacher and NAMASTE is the best part of my day I relax and refuel!!!! GREAT SHOW FitTV
