I was thinking that too, It's so hot their in the summer. It's ridiclous for the EAMT's to be wearing long pants in that heat! They should be able to wear cargo shorts they got a lot of pockets too. plus you don't want them to get a heat stroke. I assume it's a rule in PHX that EAMT's can't wear shorts and must wear the long dark cargo pants. Posts: 1 | Registered: 10-29-06

The reason the EAMTs wear the long pants is to protect their legs because they are often going into messy situations like hoarding cases, being bitten by animals, and even rescuing a kitten from a sewer like an EAMT did on one episode. It is all about safety not about whether or not it is hot out or not.
Shelter policy at the Houston SPCA is cargo pants, where denim pants would provide better protection in a number of situations. They're not allowed.
The shelter policy at the place where I volunteer is that volunteers who do direct animal care with dogs and/or cats are to wear "heavy pants". But the ACO's wear, yep, the equivalent of cargo pants.
I see last night on the new episode 16 that EAMT's now have long cargo shorts that one of them was wearing shorts to the house that was runing a vet. clinic without a license. I' m glad they got smart !
How is wearing cargo shorts being smart? I think long cargo pants are great and definately protect your legs better than shorts. I have a pair and am glad to have them on when I'm working.
I vote for letting them wear what they want, within of course any code they might have. Personally, I would probably wear shorts, especially in the spring summer and fall.
