Ok, I've read tons of posts concerning the two young men leaving OCC, but no one seems to see what I see.
I worked for a company years ago that trained me in the field of refrigeration/heating and air conditioning. The owner taught me everything, gave me a chance and a trade so I could do more in life than the typical burger flipping job.
After a while, my boss became a looser in terms of business and repore with the employees. The entire shop quit, including myself. Two started their own buisness and went after their past employers customers and wanted me to join on. I would not do it for the following reasons:
1. I decided I wanted to look myself in the mirror without being ashamed. When someone gives you a break and they change, the fact is they STILL GAVE YOU A BREAK, you don't kick them when their down!
2, Its morally incorrect to go after a persons lively hood after they give you the skills to be able to do so. Its sort of like shooting a man with his own gun!
Now, lets look at Cody and Vince compared to Paul Sr. Go to Vforce's site and look at the thank you link. They did very little to start and build their business were Sr. started from nothing but hard work.
I think Vince and Cody (especially Cody) have virtually kicked Teytul's in the you know what. NOTE: Im not saying that Vince and Cody had the right to leave, I'm just saying they showed their real colors of character in how they left and how they talked (Cody's words) about going out on their own. Its true they did nothing legally wrong, but morally, I have a problem with it.
"NOTE: Im not saying that Vince and Cody had the right to leave,"
Of COURSE they had a right to leave, they weren't indentured servants! LMAO
And as far as anyone showing their "real colors of character", I think Sr. did that when Cody didn't get to keep the old school chopper he and Sr. built and that Sr. said was his.
When did Vinnie an Cody go after OCC customers...And dont say when they decided to build bikes...Call OCC an see how much a custom chopper is then call Vforce, about 30 grand difference.. Vinnie an Cody wont make a dent in OCCs bizness ..There not in the same ballpark. Vinnie an them will be lucky to build 15 bikes this year..And to be honest thats pretty much all there trying to do...
One more thing, how much do you think SR paid cody? I wanna see what world some of you are living in... This has been going on for months, im not sure were you people come up with this stuff...
1. Where is the proof that Cody didn't get the bike free and clear? I read rumors and hype but no quotes from anyone or facts. You honestly believe Sr lied when he said that Cody was like part of the family? If so, then Cody lied as well about Sr.
2. I have no idea what Cody was paid, however, one learning the trade isn't worth what a skilled builder is. Sr put a lot of money into Cody's training, not just by paying him for learning but taking time away from others in the shop to hone his skills. Evidently Sr did a good job of paying the other guys in the shop to train him. There is a difference between being paid while learning a trade and PAYING someone to teach you. You pay a college and then go out, when someone mentors you or pays another under their employ to mentor someone, production slows and expenses go up. I've experienced this, train a person and put a great deal of time and money into them and before thier really ready they think they've been underpaid the entire time and leave. Now I train no one, let them pay for their education.
I'm not saying Sr and Jr are wonderful employers, I do however believe Vince and Cody developed an attitude of jeoulsy and envy. Before you say, "Well wouldn't you get jeoulous?" The fact is, they are getting paid for building bikes, if Vinie (who also was trained by OCC) didn't like it he could have left a lot sooner instead of plotting with other empoyee's to pack up and leaveand create an attitude in the shop. And like I said earlier, their getting paid to build bikes, not to recieve credit or appreciation, its a job not a nursery. Paul built the buisiness up from nothing, why should Vinie or Cody have the glory for what Sr made of it.... sure, he built the bikes but its not his buisness and he was paid for his work. I'm sure Sr had leaner times and paid his dues, Vinie got his due every payday.
For those who say your tired of reading about this parting of Cody and Vince I suggest you don't open the posts, its going to continue with others since many knew nothing of this until the repeats were played last week. I didn't even know that Boyd Coddington died until yesterday. Both shows became dull to me and I got more from Dirty Jobs and Dangerous Catch. When I came back I found out the news.
I still fell they kicked them where it hurts worse, especially Cody. If it was a lie about the bike then Cody should have quit then, not stay on for what, four or five years!
You are entitled to your opinion, and entitled to express it. I believe you will find yourself in the minority, however - at least on this board. Vinnie was a fan favorite, and has a large following. I don't expect you will sway public opinion.
There is proof that Cody didn't get the bike. He has confirmed it on the V-Force forum as well as in emails.
For what it's worth - I don't feel Vinnie or Cody anything wrong leaving OCC and starting a business. Would you have them remain faithful employees for life, and retire from OCC? People move on in their careers all the time. Just because a company trains employees doesn't mean those employees are indebted to that company for life.
Cody didnt get the bike (STR8 FROM CODYS MOUTH)...An by your analogy people who join the armed forces to get training an school money should make careers out of it... Think back to that episode when SR told him it was his...What did he say, lets clean them up an put them away...That bike was Codys as long as he was under SRs thumb...
