I am thinking on getting my first tattoo shortly. I have created my own design. I am wondering if it is appropriate with symbolisms and meanings.
My tattoo design is of the fighting dragon and tiger with a lotus flower underneath them instead of the usual ying-yang. I wanted this tattoo to represent my struggles in life, my overcoming of these struggles (the lotus flower being a symbol of overcoming any obstacle and still being beautiful) and also for it to show my many struggles yet to come (the dragon and tiger in the eternal battle). My only problem is, whenever I watch the show, I see that Ami is usually critiquing the tattoo designs people create because their symbolism is inappropriate. Is my symbolism for this tattoo appropriate or not?

it is you who will be wearing the tattoo and you are entitled to wear whatever you want!
You have designed it and as long as you are happy then it is up to your tattoo artist to help you achieve your desire.
Don't let anyone put you off from what you want, there is nothing wrong with what you have designed and you should not be afraid to stick to your decision. Good luck in getting it done!

Thanks for you opinion. My fiancee agrees. He told me that it is an awesome design and if that is what my heart truly desires then that is what I deserve.

the only person's approval you need is your own! I am glad to see that your fiancee supports you, so go do it and let us see the end result in the your photos section!

Don't let anyone else's opinions alter the design of your tattoo. It's yours, not anyone else's.

Tattooing can be simply decorative it doesn't have to have anything behind it.
