1 week ago today, I got my second tattoo (on my ankle)

It looked beautiful. The second day, it looked beautiful.. even on the third day it looked great.

Over the last 2-3 days, the color looks so much darker, the colors are all smudged together,,, the once thin lines are now thicker and blurry,, the tattoo is like day and night.
i even took a pic of it the day after i got it and it looks sooooo awful now in comparison.

i have been searching the net all day to see if this is part of the healing process.... can't find any answers, so i thought to turn to you intellient people!

aftercare= done correctly.
it does not hurt.
other than the deformed coloring, and smudging and all detail being lost, it looks healthy.

i do not know if this happened with my first tattoo as that one is on my back and i couldn't check it out.

it was in memory of my grandpa and i am heart broken if this is how it has turned out.

how can there be such a contrast from the day i first got it? is this what happens? it is real hard to believe that with the way it looks now, it can go back to how it looked in the beginning.

thanks in advance for all comments. it is very much appreciated.

RELAX! Ink does not spread or blur like you suggest, you're in the healing process. Give it at leat 4 weeks and you'll be fine.

Just think about it logically for a mintue and you'll see....

Hi guys.......

I would really appreciate a few other insightful opinions........

on friday it will be 2 weeks since i got the tattoo.

is it normal for it to look much bigger now,,, it is hard to describe, but basically, the once thin lines now look like a child took a marker and outlined the tattoo in a very thick (and ugly way)...... and the colors are still so dark,, and smudgy..... the actuall tattoo looks like it has a much different and uneven shape...

this is all normal???

Thanks for ANY comments. Smile

yah its normal if the artist doesn't know what trey're doing. it's called a blowout, it is from going too deep. but let it finnish healing to be sure... keep us up-dated. let us know where you had it done so we know not to go there.

oh man,,,,,,, my worst fear. thank you very much for you post.

i can't even tell you how bad it looks now. so, when an artist makes the blow-out mistake, the tattoo will look really good in the first few days,,, and then,, as the days pass, this blow-out affect begins?

wow. this is very saddening,, seeing as it was a surprise for my grandmother.

This does not look fixable. Is there any hope for it?

I am going to go down tomorrow and get her to check it out.
I will update you guys then.

PS- I got the tattoo down in ottawa- a place called "living colour"- they have a website if you want to check it out

this can be cause by 3 things.

improper care of the tattoo during the healing process (you stated you did it correctly) (never use triple anti-biotic ointment or lotions scented or not on your tattoo EVER)

The ink used in your tattoo may have been watered down. this will cause the ever dreadful bleeding and blurriness

you have a rare skin disorder and low blood circulation to your feet, seek medical help to be sure
