I thought this post would be more appropriate under this topic. Sorry for the "double post" Question, I have been reading about aftercare, peeling, lotions etc. Also about a foot tatoo compromised because it was covered by a sock too soon. What about tatoos that are in places that are normally clothed (I don't mean anything vulgar just something like a shoulder that would be covered by a shirt or an area like a hip that would be visable only when wearing a bathing suit). How does covering a tat with clothes affect the healing process?
2nd question - what about a tat on the lower leg which is an area that is shaved regularly?
I have tattoos on each shoulder and I didn't have any problems with healing. I think as long as you don't wear anything that's too tight you should be okay. I also wore tank tops a lot when I was just staying at home and that helped ease the itching. I'm not sure about tattoos on the foot or legs and shaving.
I just got a foot tattoo in Dec and one last thurs on the other foot so they would match up...I wore socks all the time and shoes and no problem. I wore the fuzzy soft chenille socks around the house and breathable cotton socks out with slip on tennies or a cotton trouser sock with a soft leather shoe for work. I was told it was good to wear socks while walking around the first 2 or 3 days to keep dirt and dust out of the tattoo. As for shaving since my foot tattoo creeped up the leg a bit I was told it was ok to do that after the peeling was done and then be very light handed...I was told that by someone who had been there not an artist..just so ya know...I shave around it and then get into the tight spots near the tattoo with one of those trimmers that old ladies use to shave their upper lip. I figured since I would be an old lady someday I might as well pick one up
