I want to get a tattoo to honor my mother. She took her own life 2 1/2 years ago. She always wanted me to be proud of my Jewish background. However, I do not know a lot about that background. I want to incorporate some Hebrew writing with a set of angel wings on my shoulder. This way I can honor her and my background at the same time. The significance of having it on my shoulder is to show my mom that I know she will always be watching over me. I have two problems with the tattoo. 1. I want the angel wings to look realistic and a little more manly. I also considered a halo over them. 2. I have been having trouble deciding how to incorporate the Hebrew as well as how to translate. I know Ami is Jewish and could probably give me some good insight into this idea.
I also have another idea that I want to get in the future. I am hopefully going to be a Illinois State Trooper soon. The Illinois State Police is abbreviated ISP. ISP also stands for Integrity, Service, and Pride. I was considering getting those three words written in Japanese. I got this idea because I really like the Japanese characters and I want to show my dedication to the department. This is where Yogi would come in because I have been having trouble getting a correct translation.
I am not Jewish, but I understand that one cannot be buried in a Jewish Cemetery if their body has been tatooed. Again, just something i have heard. not sure of the validity. You might want to check into it.
The last person was correct. I am Jewish and if you want to be buried in a Jewish cemetary, you'll be out of luck. I intend to get cremated which they don't allow either. It sounds like you're really not sure what to do and since they are permanent, don't do anything until it's clearer in your mind.
