I have always thought I would never get a tattoo but all of a sudden I have fallen in love with the idea of getting a calla lily put on me. The only thing is I don't want it to be completely obvious so I thought the perfect place would be right behind my right ear. SO my question is, are there any proffesional tattoo artists out there or people with great tattoo knowledge that can offer advice on tatto placement? Is behind the ear a safe place to get it or do you think the detail of a lily would be lost because it has to be small enough to fit back there? I want this to be perfect so any suggestions would help! Thank you much And one last thing, does anyone know of any really respectable and good tattoo shops in Chicago?
Behind the ear? As in, the entire tattoo can almost be covered by pulling back the flap of your ear? If that is the case, I think that would be a bad place for the tattoo you want. You wouldn’t get much detail in there.
Or do you mean ON the ear, but on the backside? Either way, too small for detail. Save that location for very simple tattoos that don’t need too much detail.
Something like that can look great on your foot crawling up the ankle. Back of your neck, arms, legs,…many places to chose from.
But it all depends on the size.
Your best bet is to talk to an artist, get the ideas down, have them sketch something up and then, based on the level of detail you are happy with, finalize the placement.
Behind the ear is probably going to be too small to capture enough detail/sharpness to get a Good tattoo. You may find someone willing to do it, but it will probably come out looking blurry or just too simplified. I suggest finding a larger spot to have it done.
