yeah thats deffinatly not normal. it usually swells up for maybe 2 days at the most but it never peels unless its the scab and the scab doesnt peel for 8-14 days after the tattoo. after 14 days it should be totally fine so peelin, no scab, not raised. id deffinalty go and see a doctor if i was you
Sounds like you are allergic to the ink and your body is trying to get rid it. My wife has this problem also with red ink. It took three years for my wifes tattoo to settle in.
Where is the tattoo? It sounds like it might be getting rubbed by your clothes. What you describe sounds like simple irritation combined with sensitive skin. Many tats will welt up if they are irritated. If this seems to be your case, use a quality lotion and try to eliminate the source of the chafing.
Kinda OT but still the same deal...My Tattoo is of Marilyn Monroe's signature, and I got it almost 2 years ago...I can still feel it, like is embossed (like a braille feeling, but solid lines, you know?). Is that a sign of bad tattooing, or my body's permanant reaction? Or is that how all tats are? I thought it would eventually "settle in" without any raises or bumps. They're subtle, mind you, but still there. Just wondering for future tats...
I have a tattoo that is like that, only I got mine done about 7 years ago. The artist went too deep and was too rough. The raised feeling is the scar tissue. It won't go down after this long
yes subtile raising is normal because of the artist dept of the needles, causes scar tissue, peeling is not normal unless you seem to just keep picking at it and making it bleed and then healing it and picking it more .. try some A&D cream, if it is in a chaffin area... it might help .. if no improvements after about a week DR time ...
a tattoo will raise (scar) if the tattoo artist doesnt have a kind hand and also it will scar if the tattoo artist is a complete moron and doesnt know anything about tattooing. Usualy a tattoo scar is due to inexperience in tattooing, the artist will make the needle go to deep causeing an internal scar. ink would cause a rash/irritation. If you have both a scar and a rash/irritation then its probably both, but this would only be in a rare case
