I'm looking to get my first tattoo and I want it somewhere noticeable but not tacky. Does it look right for a girl to have a tattoo on the top part of her arm if that is her only tattoo? I'm just wondering because I like the idea to a certain extent, but where I live you only see guys wearing them there and I'm afraid it will make me look like a dyke. :s Please give your opinion to help. Thanks! (getting a tribal sun with a triquetra symbol in the center and the nickname "sunshine" across it)

It doesn't matter what other people think of it, if you like it then thats all that matters. A tattoo is for you, not someone else. If your not sure about the arm idea, try and think about other places and how it would lookthere or even ask an artist's opinion until you're really sure of what/where you want it .

How about trying out some temporary tattoos in different places to get a feel for it?

temporary tattoos is a very good idea, wish I would of thought of that a few years ago,well like many years ago. Got first one when I was 13.I am 42 now. I still would have gotten them anyways.

I have tattoos on both arms neck and one starting on my foot and going up my calf and wrapping around.I regret having my arm tattoos i had them done at 18 and couldn't wear a sleeveless wedding dress as i did not feel comfortable.I would say lower back as you can always cover.let me know how it turns out.sarah

I agree. I have a small chest tattoo, on eon each sholder blade, a lrge one on my calf and one one the inside of my forearm. These are all places that are prominent, depending on what you are weraing and can be hidden for work or religious reasons, but that yu can still see and enjoy.
