all depends on how you take care of them in the beginning i think, and how much shoes you wear, i am in florida so i tend to wear flip-flops and barefeet as much as possible... no sun and no pool yet for mine as much as i can...
one is only a few months old and the other is still only 7 months old, and so far they really look just as good as the day i got them, they are both of the same color almost and one has blank writing on it too... i have been very happy with mine, they both cover the entire top of both feet...
now the bottom of the foot is a different story, lol, and it hurts like hell...
It does depend on what you wear on your feet and how you take care of them, I have a blue butterfly on the top of my foot.I had it put in a spot that when I wear shoes, flipflps etc, it would not rub, been 4 years now and looks great...... !
your feet and your hands shead more than any other part of your body so yes if you take care of them they will be "OK" but eventually it will be a big blob
I got a chinese symbol on the top of my foot about 4 years ago and it still looks great. I wear shoes that cover it most of the time. It hurt like hell though.
both my feet have tattoo, one is 2 years old and one is brand new, the old one has faded a bit but not much, so that is why i decided to get the other foot done...plus i think it is a great spot for ink...but a bit on the ouchy side...lol
I got mine (black panther on inside ankle with footprints leading up from across the top of my foot to the ankle)done about 10 years ago. The only complaint I have is that the footprints have kind of "melted" into themselves. Imagine an animal footprint in the snow or mud. And, no, it didn't have anything to do with weight gain or loss to my knowledge. And yes, it hurts QUITE A BIT on top of your foot, especially around the bones where the skin tends to be thinner. But I love my tattoo and I'm very glad I got it.
I just had the top of my right foot tattooed about 10 days ago. Yes, it hurt. A lot more than any of my other tattoos. Was it unbearable? No. I lived. I didn't pass out or cry. Didn't even think about it.
Healing has been kind of tough. Right now it's going through the peeling phase and I already see where I'm going to have to have it touched up. I don't think the artist went deep enough with the color in favor of being quick. He knew this and told me that any touch-ups would be free.
I've also been forced to wear skirts and flip-flops. That didn't seem like such a big deal at first, but man oh man I just want to put a pair of jeans on so bad. I'm tired of having to shave every day and my legs sticking together in the hot car. I still have at least another 10 days to go...
another 10 days??? even 10 days alone seems like a lot. mine was swollen for the first 4 and and done peeling by the 7th. i could wear shoes by the 9th or 10th day no problem!
My foot is no longer swollen. I just want to keep shoes/socks/pants/jeans off of my tattoo for as long as possible to give it the best chance of looking good in the long haul. Most websites I've visited recommended flip-flops for at least three weeks. I figured it certainly couldn't hurt!

My foot tattoo did not hurt much at all but it did swell up a lot the second day. I remcommend doing it in the warm weather if you are located in a seasonal climate so you can were open shoes (like flip flops). I elevated my foot and put some ice on it and the swelling was gone in 24 hours.
I got a dragonfly with a lot of color in it on top of my foot about 10 days ago. I am freaking out because a lot of the color seems to be seeping out..especially a light blue. I have taken really good care of it..no shoes etc..but it doesn't look good. Has anyone ever had this happen, or know what causes it or what I should do. I will get it touched up, but I don't want the same thing to happen again. Help!
as an artist i've seen fery few that looked good for any length of time. when they laser off a tat its like a jackhammer breaking the ink up into little pieces then ur body discards them. but any place in the body where ur skin sheds alot and alot of compression and bumping will tend to wear out for a lack of another term (hands elbows feet wrists etc etc) i dont recomend them but most people wont listen anyway. i told a girl over and over not to do it but she went somewhere else and they just took her money and put it on. well needless to say i've had to touch it up seven times in the last two years. the same spots wear out each time. but needless to say if she would of listened in the first place she wouldnt be where shes at now. but like i said nobody wants to listen i guess they figure they know more than the guy who does it for a living

i have one on the top of my foot, and as it was peeling, it looked like the color was coming out. but as it healed more and more, the color brightened and returned perfectly. just be VERY careful not to disturb it before it falls off on its own.
Hi Steele...Thanks for your reply. How much did the color come off on your before it stopped and just healed. I think mine is healed, but its hard to know. Did some colors come off more than others? Mine seems to mostly be a light blue that Im loosing..the green and red seem to be okay. Any thoughts you have are much appreciated =)
umm...from what i remember, plus mine is really small, and just little spots would seem to fall off and show plain skin in the teal colors and a bit of the black from my butterfly's body. it was weird actually, how one day it would look like plain white skin, and then a day or so later it would be teal again...lol. i got worried when i started to notice the color loss, but my artist said that it would probably be ok. and she was right. after it stoped peeling and done being scabby, it was perfect....
you can kinda see where it was loosing it here: http://tinypic.com/aadctj.jpg but as you can see now, its perfect: http://tinypic.com/aaddfd.jpg
Okay..thanks! I guess I just have to be patient and see what happens! My other 2 tattoos are fine, so hopefully this one will end up okay too. Thanks so much for your encouragement!
Finally my pic are up you can see my foot tattoo and it is two years old aroud the ankle and one year on the top of the foot. Color is still very bright. People comment on it all the time. Actually today someone said my that is bright! I always use sun screen on it when in the sun!!!
I have a big dragonfly that spans across the top of my right foot. I think that as long as you take care of it through the healing process it will be fine. I have had mine for over a year and its still bright and looks as great as the day I got it! Good Luck
I have both my feet done and they both take up the majority of the tops of both feet. One is a year old and one is 5yrs old. The five yr old one I took a week off from work when I got it done so I didnt have to wear shoes or socks. Even now I dont wear socks when I am home and they are both fine. Obviously the newest one is a tad brighter than the 5yr old one but to be honest I took good care of it and it was worth it. It still looks good and bright.
I had a foot tattoo 3 months ago and its great the colour looks like i had it done today! It didnt even hurt its just like any other tattoo is feels slightly strange at first but after 30 seconds you get used to it.
Iv been reading that some peoples have run this is due to the artist. the artist has to really know what they are doing they have to go in just at the right depth any deeper it runs and not deep enough it fades!
If you look after your tattoo at first it will be fine just dont cover it and dont put anything on it, the best thing to do is leave your body to heal it itself
during the beginning of the healing process avoid wearing socks and shoes as much as possible to avoid the perspiration building up and you shouldn't have any problems
I was considering getting a foot tattoo, and sometimes the though still floats through my mind. I guess I've decided that 1) I go to a private Catholic high school that first of all doesn't allow tattoos (didn't stop me from getting my first one, bwaha) but I have to wear a uniform which means socks and shoes so that'd be bad for the tattoo now and 2) I'd probably have to get it re-inked frequently, and I don't know if that'd be worth it 3) I run and swim constantly, I guess the swimming isn't such a big deal, I can miss a month of swimming, but I can't miss a month of running. I dunno, who knows, maybe a tattoo on my foot is in the near future. I think I just decided on getting my ankle done soon though. Why are they so addictive?
i just got a tattoo on the top of my left foot in script thick writting "free falling" it curves around my flip flop on the top side. i wore sneakers once since i got it for 4 hours but since then i wont until it heels. how long should i wait until i wear sneakers again? and also im a big runner so im wearing sneakers all the time, will my tattoo fade since im always running? PLEASE HELP!
