Jersey50...I'm so sorry for your loss...I know what it is like to lose a beloved pet.

Please read the Poems in the
"Pet Lovers Have To Read This" thread....There are some poems in there that I hope you will find some comfort in.

There are no set "Rules" for dealing with the loss of your pet...you just grieve and try to remember the good times you had with them.

Maybe in time you will be able to get a new pet and love that one just as much in your last pet's name. What a Tribute! Smile

It is so hard to get over the loss of a pet. We had a cat for 19 yrs and he died 13 days after me dog died. When you have a pet that long, you get so attached to them. I am so sorry for your loss. just try to remember the good times and remember that they were happy. If they lived 15 yrs and died of old age and not of cancer or a different, uncureable disease, you were doing something right to make them live that long.
Good luck and I'm sorry for your loss.

thanks so much. she didn't die of an uncureable disease.the hardest part was that she didn't die on her own we had to have her put to sleep and it was the hardest thing i ever had to do. but it was because of old age and her kidneys were failing and she lost the use of her back legs.

jersey50...I too in the past have had to put one of my dogs to sleep because of his back legs becoming paralyzed and just plain "old age" problems, he was 18 yrs old and had gone blind too.

Just last year I had to have my Beardsley kitty put to sleep because of Kidney failure...it was the hardest thing to have to do, but he was suffering so much...I just held him and told him I was so sorry and how much I loved him...and I just cried and am crying now as I write this.

All I can say is this...You just do your best to take the best care of your pets and enjoy the love and affection they give you and just LOVE THEM BACK as much as you can. And pray God has them all there waiting for you when you get to Heaven.
