i have this friend in canada, and she has a dog. this dog never harmed anyone in her life until 18th of september when, as she was tied up near the house bit a girl who trespassed and came near the dog. my friend has a huge sign with "beware of dogs" and is always careful. the 7 year old girl was by herself, nobody supervised her, and now her parents are sueing my friend and the spca took the dog and intend to put her down in less than a week time. i don't think that is fair and consider that the dog should have some rights too. they should see if the dog can be rehabilitated at least. my friend's children are beside themselves crying after their pet and the girl is still unsupervised. Confused see the story athttp://ca.blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-7nPHPekmerRBPNF3_Y8w8NzXnw--?cq=1

Okay that is crazy! The dog does not deserve to be put down! She should counter sue for tresspassing. I don't know if she can but... The dog was obviously just protecting it's territory. That is their nature and if the way these people think is like what you said tehy're basically saying, any dog that has a teritorial instinct -which they all do- need to be put down. If she has Beware of the Dog signs, then she had perfectly good knowledge that the dog could be dangerous. That little girl needs to drop the sue and get on with life. Maybe you could try to adopt the dog from spca before they put her to sleep.

As the mother of three young children I have to say where on earth were the parents?????? If they had been properly supervising their child this would not have happened the dog should not be punished for one act. The parents should feel guilty for not doing a better job being parents..seriously.... Also I would suggest your friends get a lawyer and end this stupidity. the parents could also be charged with negligence... have her talk to the police in her area. Really tell her to get a lawyer as well.... that is just ridiculous!! I think seven is a bit young to be wandering the neighborhood by themselves..

Fortunately she got her dog back. The parents of this girl admitted that the kid hadn't been bitten at all and the spca officer that he made a mistake and Maya is back home. Thank you for your advices Smile

Thank Goodness!!!!! I can't believe that those horrid people would try to lie , just so they -probably- could get some money. That was very very very wrong!!!! I hope that Maya isn't traumatized to much. I couldn't sleep when I first heard!
