I've heard news stories for the past few years about a team of scientists who drilled 14.4 kilometers into the earth's crust, and started to hear screaming, and have claimed to have found the gates of Hell. this supposedly started in an article in a Finnish newspaper called the Ammennusatia you can read the article here for yourself http://www.amightywind.com/hell/aboutsounds.htmand here's a recording of the supposed "screaming" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHDkf2TUOoY

What you didn't find out was that the whole story is a hoax. No one has ever drilled that far into the crust and some of the perpetrators later admitted to making it up.

I mentioned this before:
Jan VanBrunnevald, the urban legends researcher, has traced this one way back to the mid-1800s.
It's been set in various countries, and usually involves lowering some poor fellow into the hole who comes back pale and shaken, unable to speak of his experiences.

Hell is a religious concept. To even remotely fall for this, you have first believe that there is a hell and second that it's "down there".
When you think about the story in the 'buy bull', is it not possible that being 'sent to hell' meant that they were made to be mortal to live the rest of their lives here on this plane of existence?

I might add that "a Team Of Scientists" would be the last people who would be "drilling to Hell". BTW, the deepest hole ever drilled was just over 12 KM.
