Hi Everybody,
It's been over a yr and a half since I last posted a myth, so here it goes.

I took a quiz from MSN called "Unusual Death Myth Quiz" that was posted on sept. 22, 2009

One of the questions they asked were "Can a person die by playing over 24-hrs of video games?"
The answer was TRUE.

These are the facts they gave: "In fact, several men have died after marathon video-game sessions, particularly in 24-hour cybercafés that are popular gaming venues in Asian countries.

In South Korea, a 24-year-old man died of exhaustion after playing for 86 straight hours in 2002;
and a 28-year-old man who had recently lost his job because he spent too much time playing Starcraft died of heart failure in 2005 after a 50-hour session.
A 27-year-old Taiwanese man reportedly passed away in 2002 after playing video games for 32 hours, and in 2007, a man fainted in a Chinese cybercafé after three straight days of gaming. Perhaps these cybercafés should impose a time limit."

That is all the reason they give, but I'm still not convinced. Besides rotting your brain, I don't don't see how playing video for that long of time can kill you. Besides these were all accounts from Asia. I didn't hear any accounts from America where millions of kids play non-stop on video games. I won't believe it until Adam & Jamie prove this plausible.

I don't see why not. I've known of cases where someone ate and drank as little as possible to avoid using the can while online gaming. Dehydration, especially with any underlying medical condition, can be a literal killer.
Also, if someone is gaming for over 24h, it is questionable whether that person is technically alive anyhow...

True, it's easy for us to forget about how easy it is for us to drink water or other hydrating beverages. Of which Coke or Red Bull is not a hydrating beverage, caffeine actually increases dehydration since it's a diuretic. Most deaths from diarrhea causing diseases come from dehydration. Plus imagine being in a large cafe filled with computers and no air conditioning. I'm sure it gets hot.
