Apparently a Catholic radio station in Quito, Ecuador sent out some QSL cards to shortwave listeners that had a sexy picture on them. The photo was mixed up by the printer who was also printing a calendar on the same day. The nun who filled out the cards never saw the picture since they were face down in the box they came in. When she found out what happened, she dropped dead!

That's the point. I came across the website and was skeptical myself. This is what MythBusters is about isn't it?

A myth is a belief held by a large number of people. I don't think there are any amount of people in today's world that believe a risque photo would have the power to shock anyone to death, not even a nun.

The story will need an obituary in that case. Deaths like these are documented. Without this, this story is merely fantasy. It is possible for the elderly with heart conditions to have heart failure if startled well enough. The story is, therefore, also missing this bit: A brief description of a likely heart condition she had (if any). Without such condition, it is very unlikely she would have died like this.

First, I've used mass mailings of these types of cards for advertising purposes. And the printer ALWAYS sends you one for approval before they go out. This to cover themselves and to stop any mistakes.

Second, even though I am not Catholic I have dealt with a lot of Nuns over the years. Even the most faint hearted of them would not be shocked into death from something like this.

The whole story on that website sounds like the HAM radio equivalent of a "hangar" story. Sort of a "can you top this" round of tales that get told.

My BSoMeter reads in the high 90 percentile on this one.

I have to agree. Some few nuns may live in isolation from the world, but even those are not by any means ignorant of the world.
