Yes, he was there and he spoke. Check out the Austrailan tv sites for clips. He is heartsick as is everyone closest to him. AS I missed the memorial myself, I have caught clips on the internet. I pray they replay it.

I watched all of the services closely.
Wes did speak and through tears he expained how him & Steve met & even though he was crying & obviously shaken, he brought up when Steve'sparents left one day, how Steve said,"Wes, you are going to catch your 1st crocodile." Bob smiled and for a minute people laughed. Wes went back to his saddnest. It was so touching. I am worried about Steve's family BUT also Wes!
He took Steve's Mom
's death so hard, this is like a piece of him is gone.
It breaks a person's heart how much Steve & Wes loved each other.

I TIVO'd the memorial and something caught my eye after Bindi's speech. Briefly as she walks off stage, there is an arm that goes around her, and I slowed it down, and it was Wes. As brokenhearted as he must be, I feel Wes will do everything he can to be there for Bindi and Bob. The family picture of all of them and Wes holding Bindi's head tells me that Wes was a kindred spirit of Steve. I'm sure he'll honor Steve in any way he can.

Hello Wes,
I write this to you...in tears. I didn't know Steve. Not personally but through tv. I watched every show I could. He was family as were you and John. I am not one to cry over a stranger but I think because he really wasn't a stranger I have boo hooed constantly. He was in my home every night, literally. My God I knew him, knew Terry, his father Mr Bob. his sisters, Bindi Sue and Bob,you, his dog the zoo. He really was part of my family. I watched as Terry had both kids on tv. I seen his love for his beloved croc Agro...who I am more than certain realizes something terrible has happened. His beloveed elephants. I could go on and on. For once in my life I felt very included and special to have the pleasure of being a pat of your lives even if it was thru a tv. I cried from the beginning of the memorial to the end. I wished I could have put my arms around you and hugged the pain away. You and Steves relationship was something very few people get to experience in a friendship.
I just want you to know You are in my heart and prayers. You are not crying alone. The whole world that loved Steve is crying with you.

Wes, we love you too. You and Steve were more like brothers. Steve adored you. You are so fortunat to have the oportunity to do exactly what you love to do.This is, no doubt, the most difficult part of your journey but your journey is not over. Grieving is necessary and don't let anyone rush you through this process. Godspeed
