A pair of small, very excited boys are running to greet me... They announce they have been hunting for lizards. I notice blood on the lip of one twin as he proudly displays a skink. I am told by the other when I wonder what happened, "A lizard bit it." It was then I knew my boy had shown his love for the lizard with a little kiss... Just like Steve Irwin. I still occasionally call him "Lizard Lip" today.

When I heard of the death of Steve Irwin... I could not- would not believe. The news correspondents kept telling me, but I just could not believe that this great man, so much larger than life, could possibly be gone. I thought about all of the time my twin sons and I have spent watching "The Croc Hunter" and the many wondrous lessons he taught us, and joys he brought us... all with his family and best mates at his side. Steve Irwin created a love within us for even the smallest living creature we beheld, and respect for one another as humans as well.
My sons have almost grown, and now Steve Irwin has gone... I cry for the loss felt round the world. I cry for the loss felt by Bob, Terri, Bindi, and Baby Bob. I cry for myself, for I feel as if the larger part of my boy's childhood has died along with Steve...

I see my now 13 year old sons, still out hunting snakes and lizards, inspired by Steve Irwin, and I notice how they have grown. The men they will become will hold nature dear; they will feel protective of and have compassion for all creatures great and small, and I rejoice that we were given the gift of The Crocodile Hunter. We are all so much more aware of our surroundings because of him, and we will miss him for the rest of our days. We are all blessed to have had him as a part of our lives.

Blessings and prayers to the Irwin family with much love,
Penny and the Amazing Wonder-Twins, Zak and Na`
