My heart filled thoughts and prayers are with the Irwin family, extended famiy including his staff, friends and all his admirers and fans. I too have worked in the conversation of animals and educating the public. Steve Irwin came along to educate the world with his courage and such dedication, I always thought we need more individuals like Steve and Terri. He will be truely missed!! At such sad times like this, there are never proper words to describe the loss we all feel.

My sister called my mom and I at 1:40am this morning to tell us the news and we were all in dead shock. I grew up watching Steve with my parents and fell in love with him and his family and their passion for anmials. He's actually the one who inspired me to take my love for animals and make it my career and become a vet which I'm currently at college studying for. Deepest sympathy goes out to the Irwins and his close friends. It's sad to lose someone who touched so many in ways that can't be described and words can't express my sympathy and gratitude for all his inspiration and spirit. May God be with him as he rests in peace. with love, Brittany in Rochester MI, USA

The world of conservation has lost a true "Superhero." Not only a superhero of conservation. Not only a superhero to the animals of the world. Steve was a superhero to people from every corner of the Earth. He taught love and respect for all of G-d's creature's to millions of people, with his exuberance and amazing heart. He was one of the reasons I decided to become a Conservatioist myself. My condolences and best wishes go out to Terri, Bindi, Bob and all of his family, friends and fans worldwide. He will be sorely missed by all.

My deepest sympathies to the Irwin family from ours...... I felt like my whole heart broke. Steve was the reason i decided to persue a career with animals. I remember cringing every time i saw him with a dangerous animal and it snap at him or try to attack him. Just a sting ray...I always figured he go out by well a crocidile. Yet I know he died doing something he always loved and really beleived in doing. It was his passion along with loving his family. I wish there was a way we could get him back, animal planet would seem less without the aussie controvationist. However he will miss him with all our hearts he will be remembered now and throughout the generations...Our prayers are with the Irwin family and the angency. ~Danica Evitch Brandon Jaramillo Cindy Jaramillo

My family and I were deeply saddened by the news this morning. My son was especially hit hard. Steve was his hero as he was to so many people. He even had a birhtday cake with a Steve action figure that said "O Crikey" on it. He was such a champion for the enviroment and for animals. He made us all see the beauty in the world around us. I am really appreciative of the fact that he reached so many and he was able to teach children to love and respect the world around them. My thoughts and prayers are with Terri, Bindi, Bob, and the entire Australia Zoo family! Larina Jones Winchester, Virginia USA

My deepest sympathies to Steve Irwin's family and friends. My son Andrew has watched, loved, admired and emulated Steve since he was old enough to watch tv.. It was very tough to tell him about Steve today, especially since today is Andrew's 10th birthday. We even did the 'zoo party' on Saturday. I told him to keep taking good care of his bearded dragon and snake, and that would make Steve very proud knowing he touched someone so young, so very much. He will be missed by so many.

our deepest sympathies to Terri, Bindi & Bob - our hearts go out to you on this sad day. may you find comfort in the love that surrounds you and your family at this difficult and sad time
You can shed tears that he is gone, Or you can smile because he lived,
You can close your eyes and pray that he will come back, Or you can open your eyes and see all that he has left. Your heart can be empty because you can't see him Or you can be full of the love that you shared,
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday, Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday. You can remember him and only that he is gone Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on,
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back, Or you can do what he would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on

Our condolences go out to the Irwin family & friends. We have watched the show for quite a few years. My children grew up watching & we all are very sad at the loss of Steve. He was always very avid, wanting to teach about animal conservation, & stressing how very important it is. I am an animal lover myself & it's very sorrowful to know that someone so dedicated to animals is gone from this world.
He has truly taught us so much. I hope to live my life the way he has - on the edge, loving what I do, & surrounded by family & friends who love me.
Thanks Steve for the inspiration - God Bless

It is so raw what I feel right now. when I first saw him on the TV with Terri i knew that here in front of me was a couple who loved each other a man and a woman who loved and would give their lives for their reptiles and mammals and insects. They loved whole heartedly and they loved unconditionaly. They loved their children, each other, their collegues, their extended family at the zoo, their parents, and their countries(Terri is an American, Steve Australian) unconditionally.
I would of hoped that one day i would get to Australia Zoo and shake the hand of "The Crocodile Hunter" and to meet Terri, and to thank them for being a source of such hope and such integrety. I am still going to go to the zoo if not to see steve then to remind myself of all the great things you did for the animals things that we can and will keep doing you have led the way steve and for that we are all greatful.
I am saddened most, however, that Bindi and Bob have lost their father that they adored so much and they were so loved by him. I am saddened that Terri who had lived out love at first sight with Steve will no longer feel the warmth of a hug from her husband, and I am saddened for the loss that Steve's sisters must be feeling at the loss of their brother, I am also saddened that Bob now has to deal with the loss of a son which is compounded by the earlier loss of his wife, and Wes, Steve's best mate I can only imagine the loss he feels right now, it is just so sad. I hope that we as his fans can realize that our sadness truly is not comparable to that that was felt by the forementioned people or that of the loss that the extended family at the Zoo feels.
Steve may you rest in peace, and find comfort in once again being along side Suey, and may you know that though you are lost you are not forgotten and that you did not die in vane, you died the way you always wanted to. You said," I love my animals, I'd die for them" you have. I am so proud of you. I will get to your zoo. To Australia Zoo, and the Irwin clan, especially Bindi, Little Bob, Terri, big Bob, and Wes my deepest and most heartfelt condolences and prayers to you. You are not alone, you are held tight in the arms of us your fans and we will not let go. I love you all, I love Steve.
Keep this thought close to heart. One is not gone until they are forgotten. Steve will never be forgotten. He lives. He lives on.
Cheers Steve. Rest in peace.
all my love jilly from England

I can only begin to immagine the devestation being felt by the family of Steve and I pray that they find some sort of comfort in knowing what an incredible affect Steve had on children and adults the world over.
My wife saw my face when I read the news and immediately asked me what was wrong. I was speechless. The first thing that went through my mind, was that my four year old son had lost his first hero. In our household, even though my brother is named Steve, when my son was speaking, there was only one "Steve" and that was Steve Irwin. My wife and I both had harbored the hope that our son would one day meet the great Crocodile Hunter. Our son loves all kinds of animals and he immitates Steve almost perfectly. Croc Files is the one show that he will watch in place of Power Rangers. When he was only 2 years old we would play Croc Hunter. diving onto the backs of toy crocs and wrestling them... only to leap off on the count of three.
They say its a small world and that may be true. Today, every animal lover in the world is grieving with the Irwins. One of the greatest champions of the animal kingdom left this world, far too early for our liking, but perhaps, because of the work he did and the example he made, a whole new generation of animal champions will step up and carry on his torch. God bless.

My boyfriend and I, have been deeply saddened at the news we have stumbled upon this morning and our hearts go out to his family, Extended around the world though it is! It is now missing a key member of both the entertaining and educational veriety. I'm sure we are not alone in feeling as if we knew him as we do our neighbours and the world is now missing one of it's most popular people. I'm sure Terri, Bindi and Bob will survive fully, as Steve must have rubbed off on them.... and who can think of more of a surviver than him. Once again we would like to offer our heartfelt condolence and wish his family, his collegues and every animal he ever helped the very best and know he will be remembered by all of us as a LIVING legend. This morning when I woke up I thought that I was in shock. I began to cry as Steve and Terry have been a part of our family every single day with them coming into our homes and teaching me and my children everything we know about animals. It is so sad that someone so full of energy and life can be taken away from this planet who so owes him a great debt for all he has done. Whatever Steve would tell my children it was the truth and the gospel. No one could tell them anything else because they would let them know that the Crocodile Hunter had told them different. End of story....Our knowledge we have acquired from him is so great and things we never would have known is all because of him...He has touched our lives and made us scratch our heads, wonder how in the world, taught us all something, and now sadly we are saying goodbye. So in remembrance to him today we have been watching the video of the baha men singing the Steve version of the crocodile rock song. What a powerful spirit that will live on and on forever in all of us. Thank you Steve wherever you are for all of God's creatures...Thank you and we will never forget what all you have taught us.

There are no words to describe how saddened I am after learning early this morning of Steve's untimely passing. I personally know how the sudden and unexpected death of a loved one especially a parent feels and with Steve's passing I am reminded once again to try to appreciate life, to stop and really embrace the world in which we are lucky enough to live in.
To Terri, Bindi, Bob, Wes, and the rest of the Australia Zoo thank you for sharing so unselfishly with us your husband, father and friend. My deepest condolences go out to you and I hope God provides each one of you the strength to make it through this difficult time.

I was shocked and deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved environmental and wildlife icon, Steve Irwin. I have been watching his shows for years and can't imagine watching Animal Planet without him - he could always put a smile on my face! I hope his family can find consolation in all the lives (both human and animal) and attitudes he has changed. He was an absolute leader in my eyes, fearless and dedicated to the work he loved. He will be dearly missed...he was truly a gift to all of us. Thank you to the Irwin family for entertaining us, teaching us, and allowing us to be part of your lives all these years.

Talk about crocodile tears! Our family was devastated at the news this morning. We are huge fans of Steve Irwin, especially our 11 year old autistic daughter. She watched Crocodile Hunter every day and had his DVD's. It was so hard to tell her this morning and we all started to cry and try to console her. God Bless his family. I think he was so blessed to do what he loved to do although he was taken way too soon. I pray for his wife and children and a son who will sadly remember his father more through video than through true life experiences. I think he would want us all to appreciate wildlife and respect it. It may sound a little cheesy but I think we should all wear a green ribbon on our lapels to remember him.

Our family would like to express our condolences to the Irwin family upon hearing of their great loss. We never grow tired of Steve's shows and have learned a lot about conservation and the natural world through this medium. Although we never met Steve he appearantly touched us more than we knew as his loss feels to us to be a personal one. Much akin to the loss of a family member. When a trust is established I am sure we will contribute to his legacy of Animal conservation. He brought awareness of the importance of conservation being not just for the fuzzy, cuddly animals but also for animals whose protection might otherwise fly under the radar. The reptiles and predators whose endangered status might otherwise have avoided a spokesperson. I hope the family stays in the field and perhaps one day his children will follow in their father's footsteps as conservationists, naturalists etc. a would be fitting tribute to the legend that has become the "Crocodile Hunter".

Someone said that Steve died doing what he loved best, but I think he died doing what we loved best. We all loved to see him wrestle his crocks and in recent times we loved to see him with other wild animals. He has reached that Rainbow Bridge now and his beloved Suey has met him. http://www.petloss.com/poems/maingrp/rainbowb.htm
