The news of Steve's death was such a shock to my husband and me. For years, we went to sleep watching episodes of the Crocodile Hunter, and often made my friends and family listen to me "re-tell" my favourite shows.

From reading a few of the messages on this board, it seems to me that I was not alone in feeling as though Steve was, in a strange way, a friend... despite never having met him. His easy manner and zest for life seemed to invite people to care about him and his family. To then hear the news on Monday of his sudden death was such a shocking blow. I had family calling to tell me that they were sorry to hear about Steve and knew that my husband and I were fans. I am just so saddened to realize that Steve was simply irreplaceable, and that things will just never be the same without him.

Our most heartfelt condolences go out to Terri, Bindi, Bob, Terri and Steve's families, their staff, and everyone at the Discovery Channel/Animal Planet. What a terrible loss, but how lucky we all were to have Steve with us for a while. I can't imagine the grief that his family must be experiencing, and I hope that it will eventually be of some comfort that Steve already seems to be living on in the hearts of the millions of people around the world who loved him.

My family and I are devastated by Steve's death, it is unbelieveable and tragic. Our hearts break for you, Terri, Bob, and Bindi. Kylie, my daughter, has always wanted to be Bindi's friend, they are the same age, and said she wished she could just hug Bindi because she knows how it it to love her Dad. Please know that it is the simpliest and most heartfelt love that our family send to yours and I as a mother pray for strength for Terri, as she bravely keeps her children near and reminds them daily how their father loved them all so.

I walked into the den yesterday and all of a sudden I saw on tv that there was breaking news about Steve Irwin and that he was killed. I was so shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic news. I was in tears. I was thinking about Terri, Bindi Sue, and Little Bob. My kids and I really loved to watch his show. We have watched it since it first premiered on tv. My kids couldn't believe it when they saw that it was Steve. They thought he was so cool. He was such a kind-hearted and very sweet and loving man. He was a great man. My deepest condolences to Terri, Bindi Sue, Bob, and the rest of the Irwin family. You will always be in my thoughts and prayers. May god be with you and watch over you and the kids always. We will never forget this great man. We love you Steve.

What a tragic loss to all of those who loved Steve Irwin, but most especially to his wife Terri and their two beautiful children Bindi and Bob.
I just loved watching the Crocodile Hunter. Steve made me want to become and Animal Conservationist! The episodes that really stuck in my mind were the birth of his children and how he was totally speechless and wide-eyed at the first site of Bindi, and when he and Terri lost Suey, their beloved dog and fellow companion. These episodes showed Steve's vulnerable and emotional side and I felt even more grateful to Animal Planet for introducing him into my life.
To Terri and the kids, your loss is so great and heartbreaking and the pain is unimaginable. Please know this, the whole world loved Steve; he made a difference and an impression that will last for years to come. He was a fantastic human being and dad and our thoughts are with you. Love and comfort to you!

My deepest condolences to The Irwins for the death of our beloved hero, Steve Irwin. I never met Steve in person but I would like to acknowledge his works especially The Indonesian Rain Forests from Sumatera to Papua. As a countryman, I thank you for your passion towards the wildlife and the environment. I recalled watching Steve play with baby orang utan and cried as a Sumatran baby elephant died of poisoning. I never thought that the animal world will ever be the same again. May Terri, Bindi, and Bob be strong and can continue Steve's legacy. God Bless you.

I am just one of millions of people who have been touched by the Irwin family. I watched the birth of Bindi Sue and baby Bob and I shed tears of joy for your family. I watched as your family had to make the decision to put your furry family member to sleep and as I watched I hugged my own furry family member and cried tears of sadness for your family. Tonight I mourn the loss that your family is experiencing due to the loss of a great man who was full of enthusiasm and was one of the lucky few to love his life and his job. My prayers are with you.

My family and I are deeply and indeed indescribably saddened by the untimely death of Steve Irwin. Some our most pleasant family memories revolve around watching Steve on TV, and going to see the "Crocodile Hunter" movie at the theater when it came out some years back. Steve was not merely admired here in the US but was truly beloved by countess thousands of American fans, and, as many others have observed, we all felt like we knew him personally, and now feel the loss of a close personal friend. Be assured of our thoughts and prayers. We will never forget him. May the almighty Lord in His great mercy grant his soul everlasting rest and glory, and his family peace and healing. God bless you all.

My 6 year old son Austin cried himself to sleep last night. "Ill never get to meet him". As I laid there with him trying to make his little mind understand an idea popped into my head. He had asked me if he would come back to life. He said mommy maybe the doctors can make him come back. I said no but that Steve was in heaven now giving God a well needed rest by taking over all the care of all our loved pets who had passed away. INSTANTLY he was happy. He asked if he could talk to Steve like his great grandmother who passed away. I explained yes and he told me to move over so steve could sit down on his bed and talk to him. Children are so blessed with their little minds. I am so very sorry for your loss. It was my dream to make it to Aussie one day and of course to see the zoo and possibly meet you guys. Im sorry it will not happen BUT we look for BINDI and little BOB to carry on the name. We are waiting guys. GOD BLESS and our prayers are with you all. TAKE care Terri. All our love. I'm sad to hear of Steve's tragic death. The passion and respect he had for the many animals he encountered in his career has certainly changed me as a person. I am 21 now, but I remember years back as a kid that I thought discovery channel, let alone the animals of the world were nothing special to me. I used to say to myself, "Sure I could go to the zoo anytime I want and observe them through glass/metal barriers." But Steve changed all that. He broke down all bariers and showed the people of the world the true meaning of respecting our animal neighbors. Through his shows, we not only see one heck of an adventurer, but an individual with a big heart. Personally I've never met Steve, and in the past I always said to myself that one of the very first places I'd visit if I was ever in Australia was his zoo. I am truly inspired by the legacy he has created. My heart goes out to Terri, the kids, and all of Steve's friends and family. Although he has sadly passed, his work, his creation, is a reminder that he is with us every day.

I feel as though a member of my own family has passed. All the news reports, tributes ... they all make me cry.
Terri, Bindi & Bob... I know there is nothing I, or anyone can say to help ease the pain. I just know the world is feeling the pain as well. There has been a gray cloud over me since I heard of the sudden tragedy.
I probably do not know the right words to say, but please understand this... Me... and my whole family LOVED Steve. We will miss him greatly. He was a wonderful teacher about wildlife and conservation, I have learned so much from Steve, as did my 10 year old son. There were many times that my son would tell me about an animal, and I knew he had gotten from watching Steve.
Your entire family are in my prayers..forever!!
I pray that you, Terri, will find the strentgh to carry on with show, the zoo and Wildlife Warriors. There is still so much to learn about the wildlife.
Take care of Yourselves. The prayers of millions will give you strength! May God Bless You ALL!

My name is Michelle. I am 21 years old. I have been watching Steve since he started. His energy and love for animals made me look around more.

I was never a croc lover but when I saw him love them, I loved them. He was a conservationist, father, son, husband and resident crazy animal lover and we all loved him for it.

I will miss his love and his key phrase "Krikey!". His loss was a shock and I only found out yesterday. I couldn't sleep last night. I feel the world has lost a very important person in the animal world. Not only for conservation but understanding and protection. Steve was one in a million and all my heart and prayers go to his family(Terri, Bindi Sue and Bob and others). I hope they will continue in his work and his dreams. We are all here for you in Canada and I at least will try everything I can to protect the animals up here. And my personal favourites, Sharks.

Protect, Love and Cherish Animals forever!

REST IN PEACE STEVE IRWIN! You will be sorely missed.

Our Deepest sincere condolences go out to the Irwin family. The Shock and Sadness of the news was overwhelming to our Family.
Everytime we would watch the "Crocodile Hunter" shows , I would think of my Husband and Son, they are alot like Steve, in the fact that they love nature and animals/wildlife. My Husband has that same kind of Animal Magnetisim that I felt Steve had. Steves passion and love for animals, all animals , was contagious and genuinely heartfelt. It feels like we have lost a part of our family.
Our hearts go out to His entire family. With Love , Tammy , Florida USA

Steve Irwin was my hero, I can't believe he is dead...He really helped educate in his own way the perils and good points of many animals that would normally scare and possibly hurt some people. He made the scary seem tame, he ALWAYS told his viewers "DO NOT TRY THIS UNLESS YOU ARE A TRAINED PROFFESSIONAL!!!" and he really made a difference in the way millions saw the creepy-crawley and scary creatures of this world. He will be missed. Everybody that has ever watched his show on animal planet knows that he made a lasting impression on them. My whole family weeps with Terri, Steve was a great educator, father, and husband. He will be forever remembered for the great things he did to save not only animal lives, but humans as well. Do not despair Irwin family, for he will forever remain in the hearts on the viewers, therefore his spirit will be imortalized for all eternity...

I send my deepest condolences to Terri, Bindi, Bob, and all of Steve's family, work family and friends. He brought so much joy to my heart from so far away. I have been a wild animal lover as long as I can remember, and it was wonderful to see someone with as much love as he had for wildlife everywhere. I hope and pray that after you have mourned him, you will find peace in the fact that his life touched so many people's hearts. He was a true warrior, that gave his life for conservation of wildlife, and to whom I am thankful.

The one thing I notice in every picture I see of him - unabashed, childlike, pure "I'm the luckiest guy on the planet" joy. Be comforted that his death will more than likely have more of an impact on conservation efforts than his life did. I know he would be happy about that. I for one will never forget him. Thank you for sharing Steve with us.

To the entire Irwin family:

There is not much I can say that has not already been said. Hearing of Steve's passing was one of the greatest shocks I have had in my lifetime. I never got the chance to meet him; never got to share a laugh, share a joke, share a memory with him. Yet hearing that he was gone was enough to send me to my knees crying.

If nothing else, I know that Steve will be remembered for his passion. His love for wildlife inspired me years ago to want to go to school to become a vet. I wanted to love animals as much as he did. Even though I have recently turned away from that field in school, Steve's passion has stayed with me. I want to be that passionate about anything I do in my life.

Behind any great man is a wonderful family. If I can tell you nothing else, it is that Steve loved you all. I have never seen a man more proud to be a husband and a father in my life. There was only one thing Steve loved more than his animals; his family. The grin on his face and the twinkle in his eyes when he spoke of his children was enough to make you believe that he was indeed the best father in the world.

Thank you, Irwin family, for sharing your Steve with the world. It is a sadder place without him and he will be sorely missed. I can only hope that we as a people of this earth carry on Steve's torch of passion for animals and nature, and learn to love life like he did.

Steve was an passionate animal lover and had a wonderful effect on my family. Our family is heartbroken and devastated at his sudden passing. While he was here with us, he taught so much and his enthusiasm was overwhelming and refreshing. We send our sincere condolences to Terri, Bindi, Bob and other family members and friends. Although I never met Steve he touched my heart and soul with his love for animals and his family. I am truly saddened and feel an empty spot that his smile and sincerity once filled. Not many people can say that about a television personality, but he was much more than that. Words cannot express fully what a treasure Steve has been to the world. Our prayers go out to you Terri and your family. God Bless and Rest in Peace.

To Teri, Bindi, Baby Bob, Steve's Father, Wes, and the rest of Steve's family and friends,

WOW - the world has lost an incredible human being in Steve. He did so much for the world's wildlife, even the most dangerous of creatures, but more importantly he showed the world how to respect and value every creature. Steve meant so much to so many people. I would like to share a little story with you if I may. A few years ago I remember seeing an episode of the Crocodile Hunter where Steve talked about losing his dog, Suey, in a tragic hunting accident, where Suey was accidently shot by some of the men accompanying Steve. This episode touched me so deeply because my dog, just a few months prior, died in a freak accident and much like Steve and Suey, my dog, Put-put, and I were close. My parents bought Pup-pup onlly 6 months after I was born, so I saw him as more of a brother than a pet. I saw that same love and sadness pour out of Steve as he talked about the death of Suey. Up until that moment I knew no one could indentify with how I was feeling, but it was then that I felt a connection with Steve, even though we have never met, I still felt that someone finally knew my loss for what it was really was, and that was Steve Irwin. I was hoping to meet Steve in person eventually, not as a fan, but as a colleague, down the road because I had a huge amount of respect for the man for what he has done for the wildlife and conservation community. He did so much for all creatures, but what I remember the most about Steve Irwin were those moments when he shared a laugh or joke, even at his own expense, with a fellow Zoo employee. He treated everyone like they were his own brothers and sisters, even the animals he treated like valued and respected siblings. That is an amazing way to live one's life - treating all they interact with like they are a family member, no matter what difference, nationality, skin color or even species. Steve Irwin treated them like family, plain and simple.

To Bindi & Baby Bob,

I know I am just a fan of your father & mother, but I want you guys to know that your father is so proud of both of you. You know how I can tell? Everytime you guys were brought up in a interview, conversation, or television segment, I could see a twinkle in your father's eye because I see that same twinkle in my father's eye everytime I talk to him. I could see so much pride and love in his heart for you both. Your father was, NO! IS a great man and will be mourned for years to come by many in the wildlife and conservation community. Take care of yourselves and if you ever need anything, you have a friend in the states.

To Teri,

To lose a husband is unimaginable, but you must be strong for not only your kids and Steve's dad, but for Steve's friends and fans. I can't even begin to imagine the pain you are feeling right now, but I can see Steve's strength and passion in you and I know that along with the love of millions of friends all over the world, You will overcome this tragedy. Try to put the events of the past 24 hours out of your head, as difficult as that may be, and remember Steve at his best and remember he died doing what he loved and fufilling his passion for life. Know that we all love and mourn the loss of your husband and this man holds him in high respects and close to his heart. Take care Teri.

From you friend in the states,
wishing you LOVE, PEACE, STRENGTH, & COURAGE ALWAYS,

My husband, a PADI Course Director and I were speechless when we heard about Steve's death. We, like the world, could not believe that fate and a stingray had taken him. We are avid watchers of the Discovery Channel and Animal Planet and wish to send our most heartfelt condolences to Terri and the children.

There is so much one could say but we take comfort, as we hope you can as well Terri, in knowing that Steve will live on though his family, friends, great work and his documentaries and programs.

Along with the rest of the world my heart is broken into hundreds of little pieces. We mourn the loss of a friend, a husband, a father and a loud and clear voice for nature. As we are mourning now nature around the world is doing the same.
Steve was a gift to this planet to show us how we can make this a better place. Through his enthusiasm, his passion and his intense love he showed us how we should behave, with kindness, love and compassion. If there were more Steve Irwins on this earth then maybe we could save it. Steve was just one person, but he made such a huge impact in such a short time. He showed us what we need to do to save our planet and we should honor that. We all need to be the loud and clear voice for nature, and I think that's what Steve was trying to tell us.

I will miss you terribly Steve Irwin and to Terri, Bindi, Bob, family and friends my heart and prayers are with you and all the love I can send.

Me and my familing are mourning the loss of not just a Great Man but a great Animal enthusiast. Stever Irwin did so much to educate people on animals that most people feared and he did it in a way to get people interested. I was so sad to hear the news because he is part of the reason why I am trying to get into working with animals.

I remember when his first Crocodile Hunter show premiered and after I saw it the first time I was hooked because of the passion he had for animals. Im very sad that kids in the future wont get to see how passionate and enthusiastic he was about animals and educating people about them.

People and Animals alike have lost a Great man. The like that we may never see again. My condolences go to Terri, Bindi Sue, Bob, Wes and Steve's extended family. The World will really miss this Great Man The Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin

He was someone that I always watched on TV and felt that I really connected with him, Terri, and their children. I always wanted to be a zoologist and felt I lived my dream through him and his family. I will never be able to express to his family how sorry I am and I hope that they take comfort in the fact that he was living his dream. He was doing what he loved best and he was a hero in every way. My prayers are with the family and many, many friends of Steve. God Bless you,

To Terri, Bindi, and BOb, and lets not forget all the family that worked with steve every day. i cannot believe a man with true passoin, excitement, and graditude for animals and the conservation of wild life would be gone, i would love to come home after a long day at the vet i work at , and sit and watch the croc hunter, he gave me such inspiration for my work, and for wanting to help with saving animals, and there surroundings, i have always dreamed of going to aulstrailia some day and meeting the man i had admired so deeply, and meeting the woman that stood by his side for so many years, i cannot say enough to express my deepest sympathy to Terri, and the kids, and everyone that works at the austrailia zoo. i have been crying for days sence i herd this news, what ever will i do without one of my heros, Mr Steve Erwin, May you rest in peace. and continue doing what u love oh so much. you will be remembered always in my heart. all my sympathy Karen Cataldo

My family and I were devestated to hear the news. Our thoughts and prayers are with Terri Bindi, and Bob, and of course all the others that loved him and were close to him. My heart was broken when I learned of the tragedy that struck. I didn't know Steve, but it was hard not to respect and love him. I can only imagine what it would have been like to actully know him. He was a great man, and all the wonderful things he did will live on forever. Steve will be greatly missed.

I would like to express my deepest sympathy for Terri, Bindi, Bob and the rest of Steve's family and close friends.
I am so saddened for his family and for the world. His passing is a great loss to this planet.
I believe that he is now with God preparing the animals for God's new Kingdon on Earth.
I truly believe that when God returns to this planet and he has talked about taming the animals in the bible; Steve Irwin will be working along side of him to help. For if anyone knew Gods creatures, Steve was the one with the gift and knowledge to be one with them.
Terri, I can only imagine how you are hurting, especially for your children. I have experienced a similar loss, and can only say, that with the love of God, family and friends, you-Terri, will be able to go on.
God Bless Steve Irwin's family and give them peace and strength in this difficult time. My son and I will miss you, Steve and never forget you. Steve has inspired my son to have a great love of animals. Thank you Steve, we will see you in heaven!

My hope is that some day the Irwin family will be able to read through all of these condolences and truly grasp the impact that Steve made on the world. Very few people have the honor of touching so many lives with their own. I hope that fact brings a smile to their faces and warms their hearts. My 5 year old son said he was sad beacuse "the crocodile hunter was the first person to ever teach him about the red bellied piranha and the black piranha" Steve Irwin's passion in life was education about wildlife that would ultimately result in wildlife conservation. My son is only one of countless young minds that have been inspired by Steve. He has left a wonderful legacy.
