I live in Covington, Louisiana U.S.A. on the other side of the world from the place that Steve Irwin called home and yet here I am so saddened by his death that I feel as if I have lost a member of my own family. I am myself amazed at how much he touched me, yet I never met him or even saw him in person. I wish I could be there with Terri and Bindi and Bob to reassure them and tell them just how wonderful this man was, as if they do not already know. I am just one person in a sea of people who were touched by Steve and his family and grew up watching in amazement their love for wildlife and conservation. In me these people whom I do not even know have fostered a love for their passion. So many have been touched, he was not lost in vain and will live on in my heart and the hearts of all who, if even for a moment, glimpsed the passion of Steve and his family. Rest assured Terri, Bindi, Bob and all that knew Steve Irwin that his legacy will live on even in those who never met him but stood in awe of him from half-way around the world.
