The birds are talking up a storm
I wonder what they say
I hear them talking about the man
we're mourning still today

The normally quiet koalas
seem to be brimming with delight
I heard them whisper to themselves
He's coming again tonight

The wombats became restless
they're anxious to see him too
they speak of seeing royalty
that visits nightly at the zoo

The crocs were simply motionless
excitement is not their style
They knew that he would stop and talk
if only for a while

The snakes were moving side to side
saying the night time is truly great
they'll hear the famously familiar voice
of their all time favorite mate

By now the animals are all a buzz
they know he's on his way
he's told them all he will always come
to see them every day

G'day is how he greets them
then he sits and chats a while
asks them how they lived their day
boy, they love to see him smile

But soon the sun will rise again
and he must be on his way
It's time for him to see his loves
just like every other day

He cuddles up so close to her
he misses this so much
he sees her face, he hears her voice
but he cannot feel her touch

He puts the smile back on her face
that was taken weeks ago
he whispers softly in her ear
how much he loves her so

Then it's over to the little girl
who is his pride and joy
he tells her that he loves her
and how he loves his little boy

Don't be sad is what he says
I'm never far away
I know that you can't see me
but I am with you every day

He knows it time for him to part
but he comes back every night
to say hi to his animal friends
and make sure they're alright

He sees her again before he goes
and reminds her to believe
that she can make things happen
she has so much to achieve

He knows how much she misses him
He is sorry he had to leave
"You know you are my soul mate"
"Your a beauty..I love you...Steve"

WOW. That was one of the most touching and heart rendering poems I have read so far. Thank you for that touch of what it hopefully is like for the animals and little Bindi.

sreichen,

What warm, sweet feelings your poem evoked in me. Honestly, I hope someone is gathering some of these special writings and passing them onto to the family.

If you were to send this to Rupert McCall, the author Of "The Crocodiles are Cying", (read at the Memorial), I'm sure he would be in touch with you as far as being able to see that the Irwin family sees this poem. He is very good about responding. His address is:

http://www.rupertmccall.com.au/

You've managed to come up with a very comforting tribute.

I can't stop crying, I feel so strange about the emotion this has evoked in me. It's still so hard to believe he's gone from our sight. Thank God he's still in our hearts. Let's never forget what he meant to this earth. Thank you

From one poet to another: OH MY! OH MY! OH MY!

As only the heart can say it!

Instant tears, just flooding!

Our sweet Aussie must surely be reading this!

OH MY! OH MY! OH MY!

Please DO get this to his family and friends. They need it!

One of the more meaningful posts I have read here lately. It truly came from the depths of your heart, the feelings of everyone as well Im sure. It certainly does yank the heartstrings and is full of emotion. Poets are blessed with a knack of putting together emotions on paper so very beautifully. Thank You.
