I have been thinking of sending this letter for some days but today, I say a clip of an interview you did with Barbara Walters and just felt I MUST do this.

There hundreds of things that I could say to you at this time of pain and sorrow, but most of them are old and tired. Yes, he died doing what he loved, and yes, he died too young, and yes he did great things and had a full life, and yes to all those other millions of things we tell each other when someone we love and care for dies. But not ONE of these is really going to do a bloody thing to relieve your pain or that of your children and family.

So, What I will say is this, Every day, I say a prayer for you and yours. Every day, I ask that you pain might be eased a bit. That you might get through one more moment, one more hour, one more day. That eventually you will smile again, and laugh again. And every day I pray that in the mean time, angles surround you and yours and help guide you on and catch you when you stumble.

Your husband was a great man Mrs. Irwin, and he will indeed be missed. But YOU Mrs. Irwin are a strong woman, and you WILL make it through this. I, along with thousands of others, will keep praying for you and yours. For the man who loved life and wanted to protect it and the woman who loved it with him and stood by his side. I hope you can take some comfort from that thought.

My deepest sympathies for your loss, again, you are in our prayers.
