FAREWELL TO STEVE

So, you bid us farewell
Way sooner than we thought you would
Blue seas flashed into red hell
In big sad circle stunned we stood.

We love you all the way to Heaven
Man, snake, bug and crocodile
We'll miss you far away in Heaven
Your heart, "Crickey!", and your smile.

Though we may never understand
Why God had called you back so soon
Watching you He must have dreamt
Of chasing beasts in His lagoon.

Some day we will meet again
In this happiest ZOO of all
We’ll hug you, cry and shake your hand
And play with crocks, while the bells toll.
