HAVE A GO AT THIS! People who are mourning the death of Croc Hunter Steve Irwin have a chance to have some closure to their grief and offer some spiritual condolences to his family and loved ones, all at the same moment. This grassroots idea started the 13th of September, has snowballed into a worldwide Campfire/ candle lighting ceremony. Steve's Dad said on the news that they had a funeral for Steve where everyone gathered around a campfire, and told fond stories and rememberances of him. That this is what Steve wanted.
Since most of us cannot come to Australia to pay respects, I came up with an idea.
Crikey! If it's a Camp fire he wanted, then why not have the worlds biggest Bond-fire by having all who loved him join in by lighting candles, lighters, flashlights, Bonfires, etc, out of their own backyards and livingrooms. The perfect day to honour him would be two weeks after his death. And then again on his birthday on February 22, 2007.
We are not all privileged to have the ability to watch the Wednesday Public ceremony, let alone on the live broadcast.
So this is a way to join in with thousands of others -spiritually- and give him the biggest and best sendoff ever. Some people are having a gathering of at least 100 people to campout and have their vigil. Please share this event so other fans of Steve Irwin may also join in on the worldwide Bond-fire.
This is to be held on: Monday, September 18th at 11:30AM (AEST)

This is NOT the public memorial put on by the Irwin family. That service is on Sept. 20th at 9am Australia Brisbane time. It's impossible to contact the family to include them on this candlelight vigil.
Terri, if you read this, know that we love you. I will light a candle especially for you.
To ALL: Come join us in your own backyard, livingroom - with candles, lighters, flashlights, bells, or a campfire...for the biggest Bondfire in the world, for STEVE. You will be AMAZED when you feel the spiritual strength of THOUSANDS joining hands to honour him and pray for the Irwin family.
Are you participating in the Monday BondFire? Then, come lift up your hearts and your hands and send Terri and children the love you felt for Steve and post your fond rememberances here as if we were sitting around a "campfire".
Please post your rememberances in the form of a condolence, to keep it in the format acceptable to this forum so they do not bannish us.
UPDATE: Keep the fire going if you could not participate. It's never too late to light a candle. Go to this website and play this song: Go Light Your World: http://www.songagram.com/May_God_Bless_You/golightyourworld.htm
Then in Steve's behalf.. Go Light Your world. Let us know here when you light your candle for all to see. Sharing the love.. -Cheryl- -Cheryl-

I light a candle to represent the everlasting flame set by our Wildlife Warrior. This candle represents the flame now passed on to me to carry on Steve's legacy by keeping a private promise I've made.
This I do for you, Steve.
I offer my heartfelt condolences to all who loved him. Especially those who were close to Steve's heart.
My prayers and love to Terri, Bindi, Bob and Robert Irwin; Wes Manion, John Stainton, Steve's sibblings. Know that Steve has not left you. May God protect you and lift you during these painful and difficult times.
I would gladly carry your burden for you. oxoxox Cheryl B. from Michigan

You should send something to the media about this, so that more people know that it's happening and can join in - it would be very comforting to his family & close friends to see this beautiful tribute & how many loved Steve, so media coverage would be good, but all of you participating should take photos to send to Australia Zoo.
I have sent info to Associated Press.. but. Not sure they are interested in this. Maybe more people should contact their local Associated Press. My local AP email is apmichigan@ap.org
If you swap out the michigan in this email for your home state, and email them with a letter asking for them to post a story.. who knows? We have TWO DAYS to get the word out.
This is going to take team work mates! Steve was the spark, and you guys are the flames.

We will be in our backyard tonight to show our respects to the memory of our mate Steve, and his family...Hope the ISS takes pictures... We are going to light up the world.....
I will be lighting my candle in my home tonight at 9:30pm. I'm watching the Tribute to Steve Irwin Marathon today and a whole flood of emotions are going on. I love hearing the tributes from his friends and colleagues. We all must carry on Steve's mission for wildlife. My heartfelt prayers are with Terri,Bindi,Bob and the rest of the family and the Austrailia Zoo family.
55thnich your so fortunate to be in school. For you to close your eyes for a moment, or even just have a passing thought as that time of the vigil rolls around is appreciated. All it takes is one positive thought...
Steve was a great man who will truly be missed. I like the idea of lighting a candle tonight to honor him. I am deeply saddened that he will not be there to watch his daughter and son grow up. He will be watching from heaven. I strongly have faith that god has a plan for everyone. God Bless you Steve. He has saved you a beautiful place in heaven. The gates are open for you mate. Good bye buddy.
What an awesome way to honor the man who has brightened our lives, shown us the "light" concerning animal consevation, and teaching us that walking through the woods is an absolute adventure! Terri, my prayers are with you and your family and "mates". God comfort you and give you strength and peace. Thank you for sharing the love of your life with the rest of the world. The chiminea is being lit right now...you're in our thoughts and prayers. Stephanie and Jim, Sand Springs,Oklahoma
